Problem:Custom Fedora Core 3 Fail

Hello,friend! When I install my Customed FC3,after typing root password step, the anaconda say:You are trying to install on a machine which isn't supported by this release of Fedora Core. Minimum Installation

Hello All I'm making a Fedora 3 custom CDs that i only want to make a minimum installation CD pack. For this purpose how i create a set of packages of minimum installation and remove screen of installation type and selecting package from anaconda installer. Thanks for time and consideration

Hamzah Khan, Hello,and now i have tackled this problem. The reason is that i have not installed anaconda, so it can not find the module "whiteout".So stupid! Thanks all of you for reply.:-) mosquite

Error with Custom RHE3 CD

I am creating a Custom RHE3 CD and I have come across an error that I have never seen before. It says "No anaconda CD was found which matches your boot media". I know that my CD has the .disoinfo file, so I am not sure what this error is referring too. LangSupport in Anaconda

Hi, I'm triing to find how to modify Anaconda sources to get : langsupport en_US directly during the installation and not French. I've modify lang and keymap in anaconda script to get them directly configured in graphical installation, but don't know how to configure langsupport and then write : dispatch.skipStep("languagesupport") in installclasses/server.py ???? Do someone already make it ? Thanks Vincent

everyone, hello!First thanks for help from all of you! And now i can see my own packages during installing process.Since i have not integrated custom Fedora core into Bootable Media,i only do two things described below. 1.edit comps.xml 2.run command /usr/lib/anaconda-runtime/genhdlist --productpath=Fedora --hdlist /root/hdlist /mount/fedora After that,i designated directory when installing and everything seems going well. But my purpose is to release my customized fedora core.That is where problem begins. when i run command, /usr/lib/anaconda-runtime/pkgorder /mount/fedora i386 Fedora > /temp/pkgfile Traceback(most recent call last): File "/usr/lib/anaconda-runtime/pkgorder",line 10,in ? import whiteout ImportError:No module named whiteout so,What's the problem?Thanks very very much! mosquite

everyone, hello!sorry to disturb again,But i am puzzled by one thing now and need help.The problem is: when i run the command "/usr/share/comps-extras/getfullcomps.py comps.xml fedora-custom i386 > /root/temp" I got message "CRITICAL ERROR: Unable to find package GD" But when i look into the RPMS directory there is a file named "perl-GD-2.16-1.i386.rpm". This rpm has been created by tool cpan2rpm. So i wonder maybe i wrote the wrong name of the package in section, <packagelist> <packagereq type="default">GD</packagereq> </packagelist> I don't know which name to use.I look into the GD.spec,the related content is as follows, ... %define pkgname GD ... name: perl-GD ... What should i do?How can make getfullcoms.py find my own packages?I am so puzzled now.Please help me! Thanks a lot lot lot! mosquite

Maybe try this way to put the syntax as : ... ... <group> <id>package_services</id> <name>Services Server Packages</name> <default>false</default> <uservisible>true</uservisible> <packagelist> <packagereq type="default">proftpd</packagereq> <packagereq type="default">httpd</packagereq> <packagereq type="default">bind</packagereq> </packagelist> </group> ... ... ... <grouphierarchy> <category> <name>Services</name> <subcategories> <subcategory>package_services</subcategory> <subcategory>package_services_2</subcategory> <subcategory>package_services_3</subcategory> </subcategories> </category> </grouphierarchy> </comps> Don't put : <grouplist> <groupreq>base</groupreq> </grouplist> in <id>my_group</id> Of course you should have the core and base description in the comps.xml but this is the way to select packages manualy. Try to have a real look to the original comps.xml and you'll see much more how it runs. This works well for me. Hope this help you Vincent

everyone, hello! I want to edit comps.xml which is included in Fedora core 1 in order to install my own rpm packages when installing Fedora. I did things described below, first,i copied my own rpm packages into the directoy "rpms" which resides in the Fedora installing directory. second,i added the group section of my own into the comps.xml.The content is as follows: <group> <id>my_group</id> <name>My Own Group</name> <description>MY Own Group</description> <uservisible>true</uservisible> <grouplist> <groupreq>base</groupreq> </grouplist> <packagelist> <packagereq type="default">gd</packagereq> <packagereq type="default">perl-GD</packagereq> <packagereq type="default">perl-GDGraph</packagereq> <packagereq type="default">perl-GDTextUtil</packagereq> <packagereq type="default">mrtg</packagereq> <packagereq type="default">rrdtool</packagereq> </packagelist> </group> third,i added the corresponding content to the section of gruophierarchy.The related content is as follows: <grouphierarchy> ... <category> <name>Servers</name> <subcategories> ... <subcategory>my_group</subcategory> </subcategories> </category> ... </grouphierarchy> But when i install the Fedora,i see nothing in the box "select the optional packages to be installed" except for gd and mrtg which is originally included in Fedora.I guess i must have left out some important steps. Please help me.This is the first time i use Fedora.Or you can tell me some docs which can help me solve my problem.Thanks anyway. mosquite

Updating HOWTO

I have created a simple HOWTO for updating and recreating the Fedora Core 3 distribution CDs. It also includes information on creating DVDs instead of CDs as well as creating (and optionally expanding) the RescueCD. This document can be seen at http://czarc.net/HOWTO-Updating-fc3.html Before generally publishing this document, I thought some of the folks on this mailing list could comment and provide feedback to any errors I have made. I have not tried this with the FC-development (FC4) and would be interested in any differences which I could incorporate into the document. Gene
