I passed "linux iscsi" and now it straight away takes me to iscsi GUI. I had to statically assign the IP address to my local host system. After that I gave the IPaddress, initiatorname. And I see an error box saying "No drives found - no valid device were found on which to create new file systems", prompting me to click OK.If I do that installation will exit. I tried not clicking OK and run #dmesg from command prompt. I could see messages -- attached scsi disk, iscsid: connection0:0 is operational now etc. The files /mnt/runtime/etc/iscsid.conf and /etc/initiatorname.iscsi are created. What should I do to proceed the iscsi-installation? Am I using the latest? Did you include iscsi on the command install line? Did iscsi text install work or not? initrd work is still in progress as well as some open-iscsi related changes - you won't be able to use root on iSCSI yet, you'll just get the root fs image installed. Note that the IP address requested is the address for the send target command, that is usually the same as the iSCSI target address anyway. I have not verified install from CD or non-network installs (I did not test selection and start up of networking in those cases for iscsi install). There are still some bugs. From the iscsi screen, I have to usually do a next/prev/next to get the storage to show up - maybe a race with iscsid and then immediately running iscsiadm, plus there is an issue with scan returning early in some cases (Mike C. posted some patches to fix the scan). I have not looked at or specifically tested anything with FC5-test3, I've been using FC devel on ppc (IBM JS20). -- Patrick Mansfield

Hi, I want to try FC5-test3 installation to iscsi target. I downloaded the ISO FC-5-Test3-i386-disc1.iso 16-Feb-2006 15:10 653M from http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/core/test/4.92/i386/iso/ By looking at the febraury archive it seems that GUI/text based installation is added to the installer by Patrick Mansfield. Is the GUI based installation available in above ISO? I could see /usr/sbin/iscsid, /usr/sbin/iscsiadm and also there is scsi_transport_iscsi/iscsi_tcp in modules.cgz of the ISO I have. Please tell how can I use the GUI based installation to iscsi target. Or if it available in some different ISO , would appreciate a link to the download area. Thanks -vikas aggarwal

Mounting half of a swraid mirror

I'm looking at how installs from local hard disk are handled (looking at the FC rawhide anaconda). It looks like the mount is done as ext2 or vfat, read-only in either case. Does ext2 read-only mean _really_ read-only? Custom Package install

Hi all, I have to modify the default package and kernel installed by default. I don't want to use a KS file to do this, but directly modify the CD/DVD Media of the distro (RH or Fedora). Can someone address me on the right/best way?. Thanks, William

DHCP server in kickstart postinstall?

Hi, I would like to run a DHCP server in the kickstart postinstall phase. Is it possible? My system is RHEL3U5, but I guess it is relevant for any other RHEL3 or Fedora system as well. When I try the standard dhcpd, it fails to start, complaining: || socket: Protocol not available - make sure || CONFIG_PACKET (Packet socket) and CONFIG_FILTER || (Socket Filtering) are enabled in your kernel || configuration! This is true indeed, the CONFIG_FILTER is disabled in the kernel-BOOT-2.4.21-32.EL configuration. Is it possible to compile a customized kernel-BOOT vmlinuz with CONFIG_FILTER enabled? Will it solve the problem? Any other suggestions? Thanks. Vlad

Problems with Megaraid_mbox driver

Hi All, I've built a custom CD based on CentOS 4.2 (RHEL clone). An OOB CentOS 4.2 disk will detect the megaraid (Perc4) card in a Dell 1850/2850, and load properly. My version does not. I have checked, and the original shipping kernel for CentOS contains the same megaraid_mbox driver as the updated kernel that is on my CD. Basically, my CD removed some RPMS, and added others for a custom distro. As far as I can see, the proper kernel files are still present (I'm using an unmodified buildinstall script). Does anyone have any suggestions on how to figure out why the new CD says it cannot find an appropriate hard drive to install on? Is there something specific that would be missing like pcitables, etc? Thanks for any advice or suggestions. -Scott

umounting error

hi, i have rebuild the CentOS and make a bootable cd. also i have change the productpath from CentOS to Sal. durning the install process. after set the root password. an error occurred once i click the next button. the error is "An error occurred umounting the CD,Please make sure you're not accessing /mnt/source from the shell on tty2 and then click OK to retry" but actually i install the cd with vmware so i can't use tty2. so besides change the anaconda source . which files alse i should edit?
