But, when we added a package called kernel-module-ntfs anaconda broke because it couldn't solve the dependencies. I looked for it and found that it was happening because the function handleKernelModule was missing. This function was in depsolve.py, in early versions, but this file was removed from the anaconda-11.1.0.4. At some point in yuminstall.py we have some functions taken from depsolve.py, but handleKernelModule wasn't there. I fix the problem adding the function in yuminstall.py with the other functions from depsolve.py. I hope I have helped. system halt using anaconda10.1.xx and kernel2.6.16

Hi,friends! I use the anaconda10.1.xx and kernel2.6.16 to make the installtion disc. the disc works well when anaconda startup and go into the gui ,but the anaconda start install the package ,sometime later,the system was halt. anaconda10.2.xx+kernel2.6.16 not happened. Please help me ,thank you!

Stripping down red hat cds

I wanted to created a single RHEL v4 CD {down from 5cds} during the installation i know which packages i need however i want to know which rpms would i need to keep such as including and fixing dependeencies so i can do a base instal from one cd or one jump drive. I can show you the ks.cfg file so you can see which pacages i need -- my LAN is your LAN

Hi Paul, I moved onto using FC5 Gold, earlier I was on FC5test3. I am trying to run "anaconda --test -m nfs:/FC5 ". After giving the root password in the installation steps, installer pops same error box again which I used to get with FC5test3. It says -- "Unable to read package metadata. This may be due to a missing repodata directory. Please ensure that your install tree has been correctly generated. failure: repodata/repomd.xml from anaconda: [Errno 256] No more mirros to try." The contents of FC5 are directly copied from CD{1-5}. I built and installed anaconda from SOURCE.rpm (anaconda-11.0.5). What can be the problem? Appreciate your help. can't run "anaconda --test -m http://xyz "

I downloaded and built anaconda-11.1.0.4 on FC5-Gold. But when I try to do "anaconda --test -m http://XYZ" , it fails to start. Last message I see is 'Probing for Monitor:" I had anaconda version 10.92.14 working on fc5-test3. How do I fix this issue? Please provide possible hints. Thanks for help -vikas

Networking and /etc/hosts

Hey guys, I was looking around through network.py and noticed that only resolveable hostnames get their own ip address lines. Is there any reason why it does this? I realize it's probably a good thing to only put valid hostnames in /etc/hosts, but why not warn on the network page when a user has put in an invalid hostname? --Patrick.
