Anaconda static network setup in RHEL6

Hello, I am trying to boot RHEL 6.x Anaconda on a system with multiple NICs. I don't know how they will be initialized, therefore I have no idea what ends up with eth0 and eth1 etc. But I know MAC address of the card I want to provision with (download the kickstart) and I have IPv4 credentials. Now, the documentation is a little bit fuzzy here. I was digging in the Anaconda codebase. But no luck: https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en- US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux/6/html/Installation_Guide/ap-a dmin-options.html#sn-boot-options-network Anaconda never configures me the proper device and always keep asking to do manual network configuration. What is the trick here? Tried combinations like: ... ip=192.168.100.68::192.168.100.1:255.255.255.0:::none BOOTIF=00-52-54- 00-11-86-41 ... ip=192.168.100.68::192.168.100.1:255.255.255.0::52:54:00:11:86:41:none In this case it's even worse, getting "System halted" dracut errors and it does not make it into Anaconda. how to install from a raid5 strorge disk

hi, we'd like reinstall some of our centos-6 servers remotely. setup: - one system disk (sda) with a few partition (boot, swap, root) - storage disks running one big software raid5 or raid6 partition. what we'd like to do copy: 1. copy centos-7 installer: vmlinuz and initrd.img from 7/os/x86_64/images/pxeboot/vmlinuz 7/os/x86_64/images/pxeboot/initrd.img 7/os/x86_64/LiveOS/squashfs.img to the system disk's root partition 2. copy the full installation tree with the repo to the storage partition and use it as a source during install. 3. create a new grub entry with this options: ------------------------ title Install Centos7 KICKSTART MINIMAL root (hd0,1) kernel /ds/vmlinuz inst.stage2=hd:LABEL=root:/ds/ ks=hd:LABEL=root:/ds/minimal.ks initrd /ds/initrd.img ------------------------ or something like this. 4. in the minimal.ks's %pre section mount the storage's raid6 filesystem into /mnt/repo and in the same file use it as installation source ie: file:///mnt/repo/... it'd have to work in theory BUT the problems: - if we DO NOT specify inst.stage2 then the system can't find stage2 even if we specify inst.repo=hd:... so it seem if the installation is not network based (ie. nfs, ftp, http) the we must specify inst.stage2. is it true? - if we DO specify inst.stage2 then anaconda loop mount it and therefore we can't put the stage2 file into the system disk's any partition since after this anaconda can't umount the given partition so can't repartition the system disk. is there any was to force that anaconda use the memory (ie ramfs) even in case of none network install ie: inst.repo=hd:..? - is it possible to put stage2 into the raid6 storage partition? - is there any other way to solve this problem? thank you for your help in advance. regards. -- Levente "Si vis pacem para bellum!"

Rescue mode is broken in Fedora 23 and Rawhide. See screenshots in attachment. BTW why have you dropped Ncurses support?

Storage Activation error Dumped during RHEL 6.6 Installation

Hi All, Greetings for the day. I have some servers which I used occasionally for Installation. I was performing RHEL6.6 Installation on a server. Also when I reboot system two-three times and then start Installation this problem does not occurs. So This problem does not always occur, but occurs very frequently. [Query] Vendor-id mapping to Vendor-name by blivet

Modify GroupSelector for Everything

HI all, I'm a newbie. I'm interested with anaconda. I've tried to research and modify anaconda from source code. I'd like to ask you some questions. Please help me out. 1. I choose Web Server and I want to check all sub-groups packages of them. How can I do it ? 2. I want to add new group "Everything" and check all sub-groups packages. How can I modify it ?
