Dear List,
I am currently using the Linux From Scratch distribution on one of my test machines and will be moving to the Hardened Linux From Scratch distribution. I will be building RPM's from the Hardened Linux From Scratch distribution and I would like to use Anaconda for the most obvious thing of installing these newly built RPM's onto a fresh system.
Can anyone provide links and or documentation on where I can obtain the anaconda source and perhaps some instructions/urls on how to modify the anaconda installer for achieving this result.
Kind regards,
Rangi

http://elvis.redhat.com/anaconda/index.html
Hi Jesse,
Thanks for the link. I have already been to that site today.
Got anything else for me?

Progeny (www.progeny.com) has ported Anaconda to Debian. I imagine a comparison between equivalent levels would illuminate the work before you.
Hi John,
Thanks for that link. I've read about progeny's efforts to maintain two installers. Primarily the debian installer and also a RH based installer which they have decided to choose the RH version as their primary one.
Anyway, I like the sentence "would illuminate the work before you". I understand that it's not just a do this do that and the vast number of problems that I'll encounter doing so. But in the long run it will be something that I can add to the already huge arsenal of things that I have done with linux so far. Main thing that I am concerned with is the amount of information that I can get my hands on which is why I have asked for any and all links and or references that people have.
Again, thanks for the link
Regards,
Rangi

I don't recommend the Progeny route. It doesn't use the AnacondaBackend class introduced recently that should make supporting different installation methods easier than in the past.
Anyway, since you're planning on installing from RPMs, no anaconda code changes should be required.
Hi Matt,
Thanks for the heads up. I've also taken a look at the rPath development environment that you are apart of. Sounds very very interesting, certainly makes things 10 times easier as well.
If this all goes well I'll release an ISO on the rPath site for those that may be interested in giving it a whirl. Main reason I am doing this project is primarily for a stable base for building/deploying servers so there will be no X server, GNOME or KDE. Should help keep the entire OS quite small considering that fact.
Anyway, thanks again for the info.
Regards,
Rangi
