Fedora-fr association was born !

Dear Fedora user, All the French Fedora Team is glad to announce you the creation of the association of the French speaking Fedora users. We will need your help to drive this project where all the users of Fedora are working for the same goal, the promotion of Fedora. Why an association ? * In order to promote Free software in general and the Fedora distribution in particular. This promotion will lead to the creation of support for the Fedora promotion, from simple flyers to CD/DVD for the installation of Fedora. * To support our website, one of the most important tool for the French community. * An association helps to increase the presence of the French community and gives more weight to his talk, indeed an association has more credibility in front of its partners, ie Fedora project, Red Hat or others. You should notice that the association has no link with the Fedora project itself or Red Hat. The project has been informed of the creation of the association but did not encourage it or support it in any way. What are the goals of the association ? * Promote free software around a central element: the GNU/Linux distribution Fedora. * Promote Fedora on different associations and events or meetings. * Create a network integrating users and developers of the Fedora GNU/Linux distribution. What are our resources ? * The French ambassador team, localized all around France, involved in different Linux User Group and other association. * The dues from our members. * The sell of goodies (T-shirts, mugs, hat...) should financially help to the association. Who is at the head of the association ? Why becoming a member ? * Because you wish to be imply in the association's activities. * Because you wish to financially support the association to promote the distribution GNU/Linux Fedora and Free Software, without being actively involved in these actions. * Because you can become a member from 10 euros. Who can become a member ? The association accepts all French speaking people who wish to help the promotion of the Free software and the GNU/Linux distribution Fedora. How to become a member ? Fedora Unity releases updated Fedora 7 Re-Spins.

The Fedora Unity Project is proud to announce the release of new ISO Re-Spins (DVD and CD Sets) of Fedora 7. These Re-Spin ISOs are based on Fedora 7 and all updates released as of September 12th, 2007. The ISO images are available for i386 and x86_64 architectures via jigdo starting Friday, September 28th, 2007. We have included CD Image sets for those in the Fedora community that do not have DVD drives or burners available. Fedora Unity has taken up the Re-Spin task to provide the community with the chance to install Fedora with recent updates already included. These updates might otherwise comprise more than 700MiB of downloads for a default install. This is a community project, for and by the community. You can contribute to the community by joining our test process. If you are interested in helping with the testing or mirroring efforts, please contact the Fedora Unity team. Cast your vote for the Fedora 8 Codename!

We have two options for the Fedora 8 codename, and you get to help decide which we use! https://admin.fedoraproject.org/voting/vote.cgi is the URL to cast your vote. Log in with your Fedora Account name and password. As long as you belong to at least one group in the Fedora Account System, you can cast your vote. Announcing Fedora 8 Test 2 (7.91)

Batten down the hatches, Fedora 8 Test 2 spotted just over the port side bow! A veritable "sea" of choices await you in this release. First up is the "Fedora" installable 'choose your own adventure' style set of isos and trees for i386, x86_64, and ppc(64). Next up we have a variety of Live images: * Fedora Live (i686, x86_64, ppc) - A good general use Desktop live image. i686 even fits on a CD! * Fedora KDE Live (i686, x86_64) - A Desktop based on the KDE software suite. i686 even fits on a CD! * Fedora Developer Live (i686) - A Live image designed for software developers. * Fedora Electronic Lab (FEL) Live (i686) - A live image designed for engineers working on electronics. Fits on a CD! Remember that these Live images can be used on USB meida via the 'livecd-iso-to-disk' utility available in the livecd-tools package. Test 2 is for "beta" users. This is the time where we have more features in a "testable" state where the more people using them and the more feedback we get the better. So please help us make Fedora 8 as good as we can! Hi We now have a new mailing list available at http://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/fedora-india for communication and collaboration between a growing list of Indian contributors to the Fedora Project. We intend to use this mailing list for increasing and strengthening the existing contributors and contributions from India, mentoring, promoting Fedora, event coordination and regional help. If you are a contributor or interested in being one, be it Packaging, Documentation, L10N or anything else, join in and say Hi. I updated the Spec page for it and moved it into ReleaseEngineering/Projects/ space. * hope to have something reasonable for a code drop in a git module or something by the end of this week.
