Badge description:
Badges is a fantastic way to incentivize contributors and recognize
activity. We already have a "meta" series of badges that is awarded for
hitting milestone numbers of badges, so awarding badges for collecting
groups or sequences of badges, can direct activity even further.
After doing some rudimentary analysis on the badges community, I've
compiled a list of the most common badges that are awarded for signing up
for accounts and participating at a base level in the project.
These so far include:
baby badger
Let me Introduce myself
bloggin' it
crypto badger
crypto panda
Curious Penguin
Involvement
Mugshot
Speakup!
Macaron Cookie
Origin
Junior Tagger
Junior Package Tagger
White Rabbit
Help the badges team understand what this idea is all about. If this
badge is awarded for certain kinds of activities:
1) This badge is awarded for collecting each of the badges in the list
above.
2) This badge will most often be awarded to newcomers, but can be awarded
to anyone who has previously collected the bootstapped series.
3) The series basically establishes a general familiarity with the Fedora
Account System, Planet, IRC, and Tagger. This is
4) The badges would be awarded on an ongoing basis, but only once per
user.
5) In theory, a .yaml rules file, similar to the one that awards badges
for achieving milestone amounts of badges could be adapted?
Lastly, do you have any ideas for artwork concepts?
6) In my mind's eye, I can imagine the artwork for this being a boot.
Something like pegasus boots, with a Fedora Logo, and wings on them? Or
perhaps something more tech-y, like a Megaman style rocket-powered robo-
boot, with a glowing Fedora Logo? Something with boots, the Fedora Logo,
and being able to move at an improved rate :)
As an additional bit of data, I'd like to utilize a series like this to
help establish a path for onboarding new contributors and applicants to
Fedora's Outreachy program this winter: http://bit.ly/fedoraoutreachy2015

= Badge Description =
This badge would be given to users who help contribute code to the Fedora
IRC bot, zodbot. zodbot is present in all of our official channels and
helps serve multiple useful functions, such as helping run meetings,
checking FAS info, and giving cookies!
It would be a good idea to reward contributors with a badge, as this is an
underrepresented area of contribution (i.e. specific infra-team projects /
services) in terms of badge distribution.
= Conditions =
Help the badges team understand what this idea is all about. If this
badge is awarded for certain kinds of activities:
1) What are those activities?
- Contributor writes a PR / commit to [https://github.com/fedora-infra
/supybot-fedora GitHub repo] for zodbot
2) Who is doing them (are they packagers? translators? newcomers?
veterans? users? sponsors?)
- Targeted towards newcomers, can be any contributor (veteran or other)
3) Why are they doing them (is this a means to a different end?)
- To improve the services powering our infrastructure
4) When do they do them (every day? once a year?)
- Awarded for first contribution (I don't see a series for this having
enough worth)
5) How do they do them (by talking in IRC? by running commands in the
console? by using a web interface?)
- Pushing code to a GitHub repository
Lastly, do you have any ideas for artwork concepts?
I feel like referring to the [https://badges.fedoraproject.org/badge/domo-
arigato Domo Arigato] badge might be a good starting place… perhaps with a
panda or badger with a wrench? ;)

Hello! This is my first badge proposal. I'm also interested in joining the
design team, thanks.
Badge description:
Hurray! E-mail is still alive. You joined a Fedora mailing list for the
1st time!
Badge will be offered whenever a user joins an official mailing list.
From this badge, other badges can be designed, based on the amount of
signed mailing lists, similar to what happens in the quality badge section
(badges for taggers according to the number of tags applied)
Art Concept should refer to the @, because it´s the basic symbol of e-mail
since the early days. This badge intends to value this form of
communication and to motivate users to participate actively in lists.

Badge description (like "You added a co-maintainer to a package. BFF!"):
We would like to create a badge or badges for folks who help us with
Fedora Developer Portal.
Help the badges team understand what this idea is all about. If this
badge is awarded for certain kinds of activities:
1) What are those activities?
Everybody who create a content should receive a badge for helping with
community and developers.
2) Who is doing them (are they packagers? translators? newcomers?
veterans? users? sponsors?)
The folks who create a content can be packagers, newcomers, veterans,
users or everybody who can help other folks for developing on Fedora
3) Why are they doing them (is this a means to a different end?)
4) When do they do them (every day? once a year?)
Folks who creates contents do it once a year, I guess.
5) How do they do them (by talking in IRC? by running commands in the
console? by using a web interface?)
A content can be created via GitHub interface, or editor which is able to
write a MarkDown structure.
Lastly, do you have any ideas for artwork concepts?
Fedora Developer Portal is available here: developer.fedoraproject.org
Fedora Developer Portal team is reachable on freenode #developer-portal
May I did not understand some questions.
Do not hesitate to contact us on IRC.

similar sort of metaphor.

a big effort and the porting FAD was a great event in this line.

Badge Series for Community Blog authors
https://communityblog.fedoraproject.org/
Help the badges team understand what this idea is all about. If this
badge is awarded for certain kinds of activities:
1) What are those activities?
Like Fedora Magazine Badge Series, but for Community Blog.
2) Who is doing them (are they packagers? translators? newcomers?
veterans? users? sponsors?)
Fedora contributors
3) Why are they doing them (is this a means to a different end?)
Unlike Fedora Magazine which is for general news about Fedora OS,
Community Blog is for News and updates for about the Fedora Project
community that develops supports and promotes Fedora.
-Posts would lead to information spread about what is happening in every
nook and corner of Fedora Developer Community.
-Badge would signify high community participation and would encourage
community engagement amongst other contributors.
- Promote Community Blog amongst Fedora contributors
4) When do they do them (every day? once a year?)
anytime. more the better.
5) How do they do them (by talking in IRC? by running commands in the
console? by using a web interface?)
Authoring posts to be published on Community Blog
Lastly, do you have any ideas for artwork concepts?
Community Bonding. Sort of like friends meeting and talking. Something to
show information spread too.

Problem:
The badges about FAS birthday are given to inactive members.
Example: https://badges.fedoraproject.org/badge/adult-frog are given to
mrtom recently, an old French member but inactive (and his FAS account is
tagged as inactive) for several years.
The ticket to create these badges are not very clear about the goal of the
badge: celebrate a birthday or celebrate the loyalty to the project?
Maybe it is not the right place to open this bug, I apologize for that in
this case.

This badges continues existing badge #189 and #318 and #410 for Release
Party Participants. This time for Fedora 24!
What the badge should be granted for:
FAmSCo want to give all Release Party organizers a release specific badge.
Badge description (like "You added a co-maintainer to a package. BFF!"):
Everyone who organizes a Release Party should get a release specific
badge. Release Parties take place immediately after a new version of
Fedora gets released.
Anything else we need to know:
Although the owners will be known about 1-2 months afte GA release, it
will not be possible to assign the badge automatically, IMHO. Therefore
they have to be assigned manually, following a list FAmSCo will be able to
pass at some point to the Infra team.
