I tried to reproduce it, but I haven't been able to on 64-bit AMI-e291668b. If I get some free time over the next couple of days, I'll give it another shot.

I saw this too, but couldn't find the solution.
If you comment this line:
Include conf.d/*.conf
in /etc/httd/conf/httpd.conf Apache at least will start. Unfortunately it still hangs on any request and therefore is unusable. Strace:

Updated info in the bug from a few people (even if it was closed as NOTABUG for....some reason).
Is it possible this is because of the compiler on the machine the images were built on, prior to being uploaded to Amazon?
