Hey, folks - just a note that Alpha RC2 is now available:
http://serverbeach1.fedoraproject.org/pub/alt/stage/15-Alpha.RC2/
and help to fill out the desktop validation tests:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Test_Results:Fedora_15_Alpha_RC2_Desktop
would be greatly welcome. As always, just follow the instructions in the test cases and record your results in the tables, and let me know if you have any trouble or questions.
If anyone's wondering about LXDE, it hasn't been spun yet because gmixer was orphaned; we should sort that out with rel-eng.
Thanks everyone!

Do we log bugs against the Alpha RC2 in Bugzilla?
I noticed on my two machines, issues with loading the live image related to graphics problems. Both of my machines have fairly modern ATI cards, and I believe it might be a combination of packages.
My laptop is currently running latest packages from Rawhide, and only time I've had this sort of problem was 2.6.38-rc5 kernel package. The -rc4 and -rc6 packages both work.

Yep. Just like Rawhide in that respect. If they constitute breakages of any of the validation test cases, mark that case as {{result|fail| yournick|bugnumber}} in the results table.

Rawhide isn't F15 any more...

OK, I will do some more testing and log some bugs with any messages I can gather.

Yes I noticed the -rc6 kernel package was bumped to .fc16 but the previous -rc4 and -rc5 kernel packages were .fc15 :)

I take it we test RC2 BEFORE applying updates-testing? Wondering if that is time-effective since the updates break things in various ways. Maybe a RC3 with fixes to the updates better serves our use of time?

Yes.

Yes, it is, because what we will release is RC2 (assuming no more blockers are discovered in testing). We freeze the tree expressly to allow us to test a set of code which isn't being changed every five minutes.
Maybe a RC3 with fixes to the updates better serves our use of time?
No. If we didn't freeze the tree and just kept spinning with the latest changes anyone wanted to throw at it, we'd never get something releaseable. We always release (both pre-releases and final releases) with code that is significantly 'behind' what's in updates-testing at the time, this is how the process is intended to work.

I checked through Bugzilla, and there is a bug report from the Radeon Test Day noting the same issue I have, with the 2.6.38-rc5 kernel package
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=680118
It's marked as a kernel bug, I think it should be changed to xorg-x11-drv-ati, but I do believe fixes applied to -rc6 kernel release resolve these issues, which I've added as a comment to the bug.
Cheers, Dagan
