Update: Wim has dropped his objection to disabling flat volumes, and so Rex has disabled flat volumes in F24. I don't expect we'll need to follow up on this.

I don't want to be too much of a stickler, but 'wims objection' was not the only reason that we didn't approve the disabling. What about my objection ? I guess it is a moot point now, but it feels like the people who hate flat volumes just took matters into their own hands here and created a fait accompli.

Yeah, I also am on the _personal_ side of disabling flat volumes but I agree with Matthias about the process. I don't know if this particular one needs to be revisited, but I'd really like to have it kept in mind in the future.

Sorry, I simply wasn't expecting any further controversy once Wim said he was fine with disabling flat volumes; I'm sure Rex was not either, or he would not have taken this action.
Matthias, if you really want to keep flat volumes, let's discuss it at the next regular WG meeting.... (But I'm quite certain that disabling is the right thing to do, until the bug that prompted this is resolved.)

For the record, the discussion that led to this begins here:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1265267#c26
There Wim lists two conditions he would like to see met before reenabling flat volumes.
