Hi, I know there is a proposal for 3rd-party software inclusion: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Workstation/Third_party_software_proposa l
And even before that there was an idea to create a collection of Copr repositories with useful software that would be enabled by default in Fedora.
I wonder if there is already a process for that. I think starting with software in Copr would be a good first step. The licenses are compatible and there are repositories with useful desktop apps that have proved to be frequently updated.
E.g.: Tilix (formely Terminix) - https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/heik oada/terminix/ Iridium Browser (privacy-hardened Chromium) - https://copr.fedorainfrac loud.org/coprs/than/iridium-browser-project/
Jiri
The third party proposal is already approved. So all we need now for including any software is that it gets proposed to the Working Group and that the repo is set up with needed metadata etc.

The Council approved the basic idea, with the understanding that the draft proposal would be completed. This:
I know there is a proposal for 3rd-party software inclusion: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Workstation/Third_party_software_proposal
is still in quite-drafty state, with a number of notes and TBD sections, including some that seem not settled. Those things do need to get finalized and the document ratified by the WG.
Thanks Matthew, Will get those TBD closed out, at least those specific to the Workstation. There is one at least that is specific to the Server edition, so they will need to decide on which if any text they want there. I also think we should coordinate between Workstation and Server for rules dealing with Docker images.

Also Atomic -- a lot of work on container standards is in progress now.

As for Tilix (formerly Terminix), we just got it in Fedora proper: http://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/tilix
It's only for F26 though as we don't have a new enough ldc that's needed for building it in older releases.

I just installed it from copr on f25 and it fetched ldc from fedora-updates and not from copr. So that reason seems to be no longer valid at least for f25.

Nice! I wonder if we could consider it for the default installation. I know we stick with GNOME Core Apps, but Tilix might be worth an exception. Since it adheres GNOME 3 HIG unlike GNOME Terminal it's IMHO more GNOME app than GNOME Terminal. And I think it also has the features for which we have to carry downstream patches to have them in GNOME Terminal.

Yeah, I too would not be against switching to Tilix as our default, I guess the only negative I can think of is that it is written in D, so it brings with it a bit of a maintenance burden, especially if we are to pull it into RHEL too eventually in order to keep defaults parity between Fedora and RHEL workstation.
