I Personally don't consider this a showstopper, but it would be interesting to know if the bmp developers have this feature or similar functionality on their development roadmap.
The Bluecurve-xmms theme as provided by redhat-artwork package improves readability a lot. When I click the 'D' button in BMP's display, the text "DOUBLESIZE HAS BEEN REMOVED" appears.
