This is just not true. Nothing about standardizing configuration data makes the system a "no-need-to-think configuration system".
That's just sooo untrue. A software writer will just spend more time on features which he considers expensive in developer time. You need to take the human factor into account. FOSS like many other software changes relied heavily on social not technical factors.
It's just the opposite in fact, the user is is now free to THINK and FOCUS on the FUNCTION they wish to perform with less needless distraction.
Again, if you think the problem is on the user side you've already lost it.
