No, but after do that I get the same error when try to run mock -r fedora-4-i386-epel init: mock -r fedora-4-i386-epel init
What is in /var/lib/mock/epel-4-i386/root -- is there an installed buildroot? What happens when you run the following by hand (as root)?:
/usr/bin/yum --installroot /var/lib/mock/epel-4-i386/root update
