We use sudo extensively on every unix system we have. If you've got more than one person doing sysadmining on a machine, it's essential.
If I wanted to spend time tracking down and installing all the basic things I need to make a system where I can be productive, I'd install Solaris, not Linux.
I dont support removing sudo either but yum install sudo isnt a hard thing to do. if you are going to jump operating systems just because of this then thats overreacting IMO
