Now it is the beginning of FC7, I would suggest Fedora core 7 move to texlive. Here is how debian packages texlive:

The conversion to TeX Live is definitely decided. I'm currently discussing the future shape of it with TeX Live upstream which variant will be most suitable for FC7.

How about asking him to become a mainainer for Fedora first and then, if he doesn't want to, adopting his work.

I asked Michael about adoption of texjive already about month ago and got this reply:
