Hi there,
The TeTeX project had this announcement in May this year which was in the beginning of FC6 cycle:
,---- | I (Thomas Esser) have decided not to make new releases of teTeX any | more (May 2006). The information below might get out of date as time | goes by. I suggest anybody interested in teTeX to join the TeX Live | project. `----
Now it is the beginning of FC7, I would suggest Fedora core 7 move to texlive. Here is how debian packages texlive:
http://ftp.debian.org/debian/pool/main/t/texlive-%7Bbin, base,extra}
Thanks,

The conversion to TeX Live is definitely decided. I'm currently discussing the future shape of it with TeX Live upstream which variant will be most suitable for FC7.

Thanks for the link, I'll have a look.

Note that Michael Peters has already done a lot of work packaging up texlive as RPMs here:

Yes, I made TeXLive upstream aware of Michael's work, so adopting his work is also an option.

I'm very happy to hear that as a user of LaTeX. And thank you very much for your effort.

This announcement of work on TeXLive rpms might well be of interest: http://www.ntg.nl/pipermail/ntg-context/2007/023275.html

How about asking him to become a mainainer for Fedora first and then, if he doesn't want to, adopting his work.

I asked Michael about adoption of texjive already about month ago and got this reply:
<snip> Due to increased work, a book I'm writing, and a new hobby (snake breeding) - I've pretty much decided to just be a user for awhile (of both Fedora and LaTeX) so that tex packaging I was looking into - I'm not updating what's there anymore, it's dead. </snip>
So I asked about the texjive project adoption:
<snip>
Would you mind if I eventually base the new texlive packaging on your texjive project?
Go ahead. I've no problems with it at all if it is of value. </snip>
So I decided to base the texlive packaging on the Michael's work and the packages should enter the review process shortly.

Yes! And thanks for the feedback, too.
