Adding boilerplate errata/CVS instructions

Attached is a file that supplies boilerplate instructions for reporting errors/patches with a document. Also attached is a patch to my Stateless Linux tutorial which pulls in the file and uses it, with the various sub-entities given sane definitions. You can see a usage of this file in an unofficial copy of that tutorial, located here: http://people.redhat.com/dmalcolm/stateless/stateless-linux-HOWTO- en/#errata-tip I propose adding the first file as "fedora-docs/common/errata-en.xml" Any thoughts/rewrites? Perhaps the heading should read "About This Document" instead? Dave Malcolm

Release notes on project website

Considering that some people might still want to download Fedora Core 1 (i.e. since those paying attention might have noticed that the 2.4 kernel still performs better than 2.6), I think that it would be a good idea to have the release notes for Fedora Core 1 on the website, even if only for historical purposes. Red Hat always left old documentation for Red Hat Linux up on their website, and I don't see why The Fedora Project should behave any differently. Peace, William

Fedora Core 3 and NTFS and MP3 and Video Codecs

I have already running Fedora Core 3 but I not know how to mount partitions formated on NTFS or listen music recorded in WMA or MP3 format and view some movies codified by XVid or DivX or another codecs. I will convert it to the required format, and remove the extraneous references to the RedHat hat install, replacing them with "fedora" as needed. Hi I have a few more points to add to the guide --- A section on managing updates with the suggestion that users should keep the amount of software installed in their system to the minimum necessary to keep updates manageable there are in general three types of updates 1) security fedoranews.org has a [security] tag for important security updates. a reference to this website would be useful 2) bugfixes 3) new features - this is a optional type of update which users need not apply if they dont want the additional features Announcements on updates are delayed by Redhat inorder for mirrors to be synced. this is a faq which is to be answered in the guide.such updates are tagged with [missing] in fedoranews.org. a changelog is part of the redhat announcements and can be found in rpm -q packagename --changelog Rahul Sundaram ===== Regards Rahul Sundaram __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Software Management Tutorial

Setting up FC3 this weekend I noticed that the Keeping Up to Date tutorial written for the FC2 version of yum, and is fairly terse. So I've written up a more comprehensive tutorial on up2date and yum. Re-using material from Red Hat Docs

Looking at the Kickstart and Boot Options sections, there are lists of options which are already written in the Red Hat docs. The Kickstart options are a very long list: http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/enterprise/RHEL-3-Manual/sysadmin-guide/… The legal notices say Open Publication Licence (rather than GNU FDL), but also "distribution of substantively modified versions of this document is prohibited without the explicit permission of the copyright holder".
