I wanted to answer https://www.reddit.com/r/linux/comments/9q3b9v/custom_linux_distro_based_on_... with an easy "well, I don't know about Debian, but here's how you do it for Fedora"... but it turns out we don't have a great page I can just link to. https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Infrastructure/CustomSpins is both out of date and short on specifics, and https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Remix is too high level.
Our mission is meant to accommodate and encourage this. We should explain better how to actually do it. Any volunteers?

For what it's worth, this work was started by RIT students working on the TigerOS Fedora Remix, but the content could be expanded further.

Hello,
I can help writing something. Maybe a wiki page or...? The Remix and Spins pages are definitely not in their best shape.

Hello, I had written a message in response to the remix documentation on my other email, but I realized it isn't subscribed to the fedora docs list (and therefore didn't go through). Reposting here for clarity:
In regards to remix documentation, this is something I am actively thinking about. I would love to help write about anything relating to remixes and spins (including the remix-ci doc listed above which we need to update again soon).
At the moment, there is no location for the remix docs, and as far as I can tell, can only be reached by knowing the website address. It would be nice to have it in a location reachable by links. I'm wondering if spins and remixes should have a similar parent doc location, or if we want to separate them out as they are.
If there are any specifics relating to remixes you would like documented, please let me know. Also, if anyone else is interested in helping write the remix documentation, please also let me know :)
Regards, - Tim Zabel | TigerOS Team

I believe that is partially an issue with the move to Antora. It could also be a category page and not an actual page. I know the remix building CI subpage should be populated as part of what TigerOS and RITlug did.

Hmm, issue #81 https://pagure.io/fedora-docs/docs-fp-o/issue/81 is also somewhat related to this.
I will work on filing a ticket for this.

If you would like to help contribute to the Remix Docs, you can create a new .adoc page under the pages directory. https://pagure.io/fedora-docs/remix-building/blob/master/f/modules/ROOT/pages Docs use the AsciiDoc https://asciidoctor.org/docs/ format.
Thanks for contributing, and please let us know if you have any further questions!

Hello,
One thing you can do, is create an issue https://pagure.io/fedora-docs/remix-building/issueswith the text you would like to contribute, and I can convert that to the adoc format and do the building process for the page. Otherwise, if you are familiar with git, forks, and the process of creating Pull Requests against the project, you can do that method as well.
The first method would be the easiest way, in which case all you need to do is write the documentation and I can do all the rest. If you would like to learn the full process, you can talk to me over Telegram at @Tjzabel21.
Let me know what you choose to do ^.^ - Tim Zabel
