Release Engineering for the Fedora Project
Hello everyone!
We have the F18 Localization Test Day scheduled on 26th September
(Friday) to check our translations quality for the Fedora packages.
Kindly request all Fedora translators and users to participate in this
test event. Please check [1] for details. You many also please note that
to reduce the load on wiki page and get things more organised, we have
made some modifications in the test matrix [2]. Feel free to provide
your feedback/comments on the same.
Few important points to be taken care:-
* Please take a look at [3] for few changes in the steps to run desktop
in your language.
* As we all know during fedora development most of things are unstable
and for this test too we have listed down the few packages which are not
ready to test in native language. Please check "Comment" in Test Matrix
while testing each component.
Thanking you
Best regards

Hi Fedora package maintainers
We would like to introduce ourselves as Fedora Language Testing Group
(FLTG) [1], an SIG group, formed with the help of few active volunteers
to take care of the Fedora Languages testing activities like take
initiative to conduct the Fedora i18n and Translation test days, update
wiki pages accordingly, prepare and review test cases, get things
coordinated and organized for the language testers.
We kindly request to pull the latest translations for your package,
re-package with it and push to koji for L10N QA test [2] by 24th
September (Monday). We will have a live image to be composed for this
test on 25th September (Tuesday). The purpose is to test translations
availability and accuracy in desktop applications. This test covers all
Fedora packages.
Appreciate your help and cooperation as this is the only chance for
translators to check the translation quality and also an important event
for all non-English speaking users.
Thank in advance
Best regards

Hi,
Reminder that tomorrow (18th Sept.) is a i18n test day. See more on
this at https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Test_Day:2012-09-18_i18n
Please find some free time tomorrow to test Fedora 18 Alpha RC3
release which was declared as F18 Alpha GOLD and add your test results
at https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Test_Day:2012-09-18_i18n#Test_Results
For any further help check #fedora-test-day IRC channel.

Hi All,
As you all know we are working on test metrix, I have prepared test
metrix template for FUAs applications as well as test metrix template
for Non-FUAs applications, Have also updated test cases for both.
FUAs Application List
:https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FLTG/L10N_Matrix#FUAs_Application_List
Non-FUAS Application
List:https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/L10N:Non-FUAs_Application_List
Please have a look into it, Please feel free to update it if required.
Thanks,
Sweta
Dear All,
I have reviewed the FUA list test cases [1] on alpha and found following
issues:-
1. first boot command is not running
2. system-config-firewall is not running. It says "firewall ID is
active, run firewall-config" and there is no such command present.
3. system-config-kickstart - Its says no module named iw
4. No able to install virt-viewer. It says error in package
Since our l10n test day is slipped to next week [2] we shall test the
above again on the updates and inform our testers accordingly.
Manoj is reviewing the remaining test cases.
Thanks
Ani

Thank you for these good news, confirming that recent lives start working.
I've read others posts too.
Please notice that we are NOT using any TC or RC. Because those
generally do not contain latest translation, and no point to have
l10n-qa-test with such image. The image must be composed specifically
for l10n-qa-test with latest translation by release engineering, and
will be composed for this purpose. This has been discussed, confirmed
and approved between FLSCO and FESCO. Besides, TC or RC may be used for
i18n-qa-test. These two tests are different with separate purpose and
process.
A request of repackaging with latest translation and a request of
composing the image from them are made to fedora package maintainers and
release engineering respectively, a week and a few days before the test
day accordingly. It means that allowing more time increases the chance
for smaller teams to have a image with more translation completed to
test. In other words, a image to be composed end of next week can
contain more translation than a image to be composed end of this week.
With this point of view, I see beneficial to follow the slip. In
addition, assuming many or some of translators are also busy translating
Gnome 3.6 which translation deadline is 25-Sep and will be part of F18,
it would also be good idea to have qa-test-day on 27-Sep after this due.
However, if majority of translators feel comfortable to stick with
2012-09-20, l10n-qa-test should be organized with such date.
I will be out of town tomorrow and Friday and no access to internet. If
l10n-qa-test day stays same 2012-09-20, the above requests need to be
organized asap. Could you please someone organize instead? Repackaging
request simply can be sent out to devel-announcement ML. For composing,
please refer to the tickets [1] and [2].
