[Fedora-i18n-list] Thai not working

Hello, We have an internet cafe here in Chiang Rai and run rh8.0. We like it. I'm trying to keep up and have installed Fedora Core 1 on on of our machines and home to promulgate the installation to all via sisuite, once it's debugged. The problem is with Thai. I installed using American English, but installed support for all languages. Yet when I try to chose thai at the gdm login prompt, only the UTF-8 place holder characters show up. I wrestled with similar problems with rh8.0, and was able to "fix" some machines and not others, though the installations seemed indentical to me. I would really like to get Thai working on all my machines, as you may well imagine. Any and all help appreciated. Unfortunately, Ctrl+space after kedit is up won't let me type any Japanese nor does it give me any feedback (i.e. no error message, or anything). 4. Close kedit for now, and execute export GTK_IM_MODULE=iiim gedit Now I see a small rectangular box attached to the base of the gedit window saying "Can't communicate with IIIM server". Could anyone help me out with Gtk-WARNING **: Locale not supported by C library. Using the fallback 'C' locale.? I have trouble communicating with the IIIM server, and I believe this error message is the problem. I don't know where to look for a place to install a new locale. [Fedora-i18n-list] Default setting in htt.conf (Was: Re: Test result (Can't communicate with IIIM server)"

Hi there, I just subscribed the list. This is meant to be under the thread of "Test result (Can't communicate with IIIM server)". I got the same error and solved it by modifying the /usr/lib/im/htt.conf file. I have to add the following line to that file: AccessControl permit 127.0.0.1 The htt.conf file seems to be very straightforward and well documented. If I understand it correctly, the default setting seems to reject any connection to the htt server. However judging from the comments made in that thread, it obviously not the case for some people. So I don't know. Could this be a FC1 vs. FC2 thing? My system is essentially a FC1 with a home-made 2.6.3rc4 kernel (if that matters). Regards, Yong PS: I have tested with zh_CN locale, but just saw Yu Shao's post on the availability of new inpinyin module. I'll grab the new one and post the test results together afterwords.

Does the input area of the LE clear the text when it is turned off and on? No, it doesn't. But this seems natural to Hangul(Hangul doesn't use commit, does it? And partial characters are characters too in hangul.) 4. What appears on the screen? The typed characters. Also Adding and deleting characters in the middle of a line works as normal. Additional info: I don't know if you still accept the test, but It's now working so I thought I might as well post the results. The /usr/lib/im/htt.conf was the culprit. And restarting the IImf server in the middle of typing doesn't mess up the system either. [Fedora-i18n-list] Delete Key

Hi - I really like the new input method, its much more visually appealling (and easier to use) to have the kanji completions by the cursor. My only complaint is the (lack-of) function in the delete key during input (when my text is underlined). In XIM (kinput2 --canna) and windows, I can delete english characters one by one, even if they have already been converted to hiragana. So か *delete* becomes k. As it is right now, i don't seem to get a response from the backspace key, which is somewhat annoying. I normally make a type every other sentence or so, so this really slows me down (i like to kanji-fy it at the end of each sentence, as of now i have to stop, delete the sentence, start over). If you haven't guessed yet, I'm using the japanese frontend. Thanks for the great product, -- Matt Jones

Hi, I didn't get the URL for testing guide (the archived email of "Testers Required for Next Generation Input Method" doesn't have it) so I might have done something really naive. I installed iiimf-server, gtk2, le-inpinyin and packages they required. Launch gedit, click to select the "IIIMF" input method. A small box with English appears around the bottom of the gedit window. Ctrl-Space switches to the Pinyin input. So far so good. I succeeded in typing some Chinese with this input method. The immediate awkward thing I found is the input of punctuations. Typing <space> (or any punctuation keys, I guess) without letters (i.e., no pinyin typed) put me into an unknown position: Only backspace can get me out. I tried to use <Escape>, number keys, but the situation just got more wierd. It seems that more than two input engines for one locale can be installed. For example, le-inpinyin & le-newpy can be installed together for simplified Chinese. But I don't know how to pick one of them for gedit. --Ling
