#26: proposal: move to using IMEs for ASCII/Latin input -----------------------+------------------- Reporter: petersen | Owner: i18n@… Type: meeting | Status: new Priority: major | Keywords: Blocked By: | Blocking: -----------------------+------------------- = phenomenon = Currently in Fedora for languages with non-Latin scripts we normally switch between a xkb layout as an input source for inputting Latin/ASCII characters and an IME for inputting native characters. ibus-kkc and ibus-libpinyin both have Latin ("English") input methods. I think it is more natural for primary users of these IMEs to use them by default for Latin character input. So I want to suggest that for F21 we could default Japanese input to use only the kkc IME and Chinese to libpinyin IME, ie no additional keyboard layout source would be needed. Multilingual users might still need an additional keyboard layout input source and that is still fine. Other IMEs might also be extended to support Latin input modes in the future: initially we could do it for those default IMEs that support it. For example I am already using ibus-kkc for both Latin and Japanese input and it works well - I toggle easily between direct and ja input. [Announce] Liberation fonts version 2 now available on github as well

Hi All, Liberation is very special fonts in opensource world. It has served open source communities for more that 7 years. It has got an excellent user base. We released liberation 2.0 two years back. Though we reverted this change in Fedora due to mismatch of hinting bytecode with liberation1. Liberation 2 is actively used with Libreoffice for last 2+ years, since it has got a better character coverage. Recently i had conversation with Wikimedia developer Ryan Kaldari where he mentioned "We evaluated numerous fonts and Liberation Sans had the highest overall score of all the FOSS sans-serif fonts we evaluated." There was an issues [1] with positioning of accent marks which we have fixed. After it i believe Wikipedia is also now using Liberation fonts from bug. [2] For better collaboration for upcoming development of liberation 2, we have now made it available on github. [3] Existing fedorahosted git will be still there but i will mostly use it only for liberation 1.07 and liberation 2.0 development will happen on github and i will just sync fedorahosted git with github periodically. Released 1.07.4 version of Liberation fonts

Hi All, Just uploaded files for liberation 1.07.4 release on fedorahosted.org. Over the last half year i resolved number of bugs in liberation fonts, those bug fixes are included in this release.
