Hello Tom,
Yes, maybe I am one of the right people about this topic. I added the
Fedora Medical SIG mailing list email to CC.
I am happy to volunteer to attend the meeting and do a presentation,
unless someone would take this.
Medical SIG people,
I think this meeting is an interesting opportunity to meet online for
each other. :-)

FYI.
I recently started the following project. I will package RPMs for the
software used in the project.
Bio RPM Collections COVID-19
https://github.com/junaruga/bio-rpm-collections-covid19
This project is to enable the RPM based nf-core pipelines for COVID-19
analysis on multiple CPU architectures.
Cheers,
Jun

Hi, I just share I am working on bowtie2 [1] packaging here [2] as a trial.
Because I have seen Debian Med(ical) team is using the mailing list to
share the package status, rather than a kind of issue page like
Pagure.
Right now it succeeded to build the bowtie2 RPM package on Fedora
rawhide x86_64.
As bowtie2 non-x86-64 packages needs simde [3] to build, I will do the
packaging too.

Just for you information.
Recently I was able to ship simde (SIMD Everywhere) RPM to Fedora [1],
and am going to be shipped to EPEL too.
It was the same timing with the Debian package's shipping.[2]
The simde movement is very active in recent months.
* simde-devel in Fedora
* libsimde-dev in Debian
It's a very powerful and portable software to make x86_64 only
packages run on multiple CPU architectures.
Here is a good example to adapt it. It's not hard to implement it.
Yesterday there was a pull-request for minimap2 using SIMD.
https://github.com/lh3/minimap2/pull/597
I would like to see SIMDe to be used more fo the SIMD implemented software.

I created lists of RPM packages in Medical and Biology using Koschei's
group tag feature.
The medical-sig tag is for medical, healthcare, biology, computing
biology, bioinformatics.
The biology tag is for biology, computing biology, bioinformatics, genomics.
Could you tell me any other packages you know, included in the lists
[1] and [2]?
* Koschei tip 1: On the list page, you can switch the list by [Show
untracked] / [Hide untracked] toggle button.
* Koschei tip 2: To enable tracking the package on Koschei, click a
gear button on the "Scheduler parameters" on the page such as [3] if
you have the permission.
[1] and [2] are linked from Fedora Medical SIG page [4].
Thanks.

Just for your information.
I am asking to create "medical-sig" group (FAS/Kochei) and "biology"
(only Kochei) group here.
https://pagure.io/fedora-infrastructure/issue/8751
I believe that this makes us easier to manage our packages.
Stay healthy and safe, everyone.
Cheers,

Hi,
There are 3 topics for the Fedora Medical SIG in this email.
## Creating RPM group: medical-sig
I would like to add "medical-sig" to the RPM groups that is listed on
the page below.
https://koschei.fedoraproject.org/groups
Someone do you know how to create the group?
## Including bio-tech to Medical SIG
Seeing the SIG's wiki page, right now Medical SIG is for
Doctor/Dentist's healthcare system specific.
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/SIGs/FedoraMedical
I want to update the Medical SIG's wiki page including bio-tech,
biology content.
In my opinion, a challenge for the medical, biology communities is the
sustainability.
Each medical and bio package maintainer in Fedora tends to manage
their RPM packages in individual level.
I want to make the Medical SIG the inclusive place the place to
communicate and work collaboratively for the RPM packages.
A good role model for the concept of Medical SIG is Debian Med team.
https://wiki.debian.org/DebianMed
> The Debian Med project prepares packages that are associated with medicine, pre-clinical research, and life sciences. Its developments are mostly focused on three areas for the moment: medical practice, imaging and bioinformatics.
I want to adapt the concept to Fedora Medical SIG.
https://blends.debian.org/med/tasks/
Biology is the sub category of the Medical in the Debian Med project.
Well, for example working for creating a yogurt that has a strength
for the disease sequencing the yogurt bacteria genome is not medical.
But aligning with Debian Medical project is still meaningful for me.
Any thoughts?
## Promotion!
If you are interested in Medical/Biology, please join us to Medical SIG!
It's a very moderate traffic group right now.
