Ok, got it. Thanks. Now this leads me to another question: How are these things intended to work in "group" mode? For example, I have grouped two JBoss AS instance. This means I am able to change the DataSource configuration on the two machines at once. However, the grouping function does not seem to work in the situation of trying to use the inventory in order to deploy a new application: It does not display the "Child Resources" panel, meaning I am also unable to add new applications... I suspect it could still be done by selecting a server specifically and then using the inventory tab to deploy to all node via the farming mechanism. Still, to be honest, I wonder if something is not missing here. Thanks again for your help. when can we deprecate jdk5?

i'm sending this to both users and devel lists because it involves both. Who is using RHQ that *require* the use of Java5? If so, what platforms are you running RHQ on that require Java5? What are the ramifications if we stop Java5 support and require that the server and agent run on at least Java6? I currently hit an issue that, if we were to use Java6, would be done already. Instead, I have to hack this up and take I don't know how long to even get the hack coded up. Specifically, I'm talking about this: java.io.File.setExecutable(boolean)

Hello, I have learned that Jopr has now been folded back into RHQ (apparently this was decided in September last year). My understanding isthat it means that RHQ would now be able to fully manage a Jboss instance (i.e. doing deployment, config, monitoring and perf management). Now I have been testing the latest RHQ (3.0.0B03) and as far as I can tell, yes, I can manage most of the JBoss AS functions (or at least a number of config screens are starting to be there). Now, what surprised me a bit is that, unlike embedded Jopr, I am unable to deploy an application (EAR, WAR, etc) via RHQ (and in fact, this is the only functional difference I could find between the RHQ JBoss plugin and Embedded Jopr). So my question is: Is this just caused by the fact that the JBoss AS plugin is still "work in progress", or was this done on purpose? (and if so what is the reason behind it?). Thanks for your help.
