People,
I couldn't find anything like this being talked about but it seems logical and would really suit me at least! - then we wouldn't have to install Gnome or KDE first . .
Regards,
Phil.

Hi Phillip,
There was a thread about that back in May[1] and Mike Harter published kickstarts[2] for building the spin image.
There's also an option to start from minimal (netinstall) image, add group definitions and install only the environment you need. I tested that on some of my devices with this repo with groups: https://alebastr.fedorapeople.org/repo/sway-comps.repo.

There's no technical blockers for creating a spin. Well, selecting the software and making sure that everything works nicely out of the box is hard, but definitely doable. And i3 SIG already offered to help and share their experience. IMO, at this point we just need someone interested in this enough to coordinate and drive the effort.

I will have a go at using those . .

I will test that option out on my old Zenbook . .

Great - I hope to see this idea move along . .

I am prob not clued-up enough for that but would love to participate . .
Thanks!

Finally got back to this - I haven't been using the Zenbook because of C19 travel restrictions . .
Using the netinstall above worked fine on my F34 desktop as a VM but I couldn't get the same thing to work with the Zenbook - the live boot from the USB stick gets stuck on a "live-rw" running process . . so I defaulted to installing F35KDE live and then installed Sway and WayBar etc.

Happy to help if I can . .
