Check media broken?

The check media at installation time fails, however, when I mount the iso file in "-o loop" and run a "diff -r" between the iso file and the cdrom everything compares fine. I'm going to try the install from the media anyhow.

nVIDIA binary driver and FC5 test 1

Is there any special magic needed to get the closed source nvidia driver to work with the X server shipped with FC 5 test 1? It builds fine, but when I try and run startx it gives and error that it cannot find the glx and nvidia modules. -- #/sbin/fsck /dev/brain Errors found. Cannot continue. Please run fsck manually without -A option. Enter root password or hit Control_D to continue.

isa sound modules dropped?

Hi, the kernels I have up to and including kernel-2.6.14-1.1696_FC5.i686.rpm have isa modules for sound cards (like mine - kernel/sound/isa/cs423x/snd-cs4236.ko s4236), but starting with kernel-2.6.14-1.1707_FC5.i686.rpm, the only isa sound module I see is kernel/sound/isa/sb/snd-sb-common.ko. Will I need to roll my own modules from here on out, is there some other module that should be a superset of the isa functionality, do I need to reconfigure something? FC5t1: SSL not working (https, pops), what I'm missing?

Hello I installed FC5t1, minimal installation. Then I added kde stuff with yum and kde is now working quite well. Problem is that I cannot use any SSL connections :( 1. When I try use https in konqueror to the solo1.nordea.fi, I get "error connecting to https://solo1.nordea.fi" 2. Kmail is not able to use SSL with pop 3. I cannot add any CA certificates to the CA-list Firewall does not block anything, these worked with FC4. Any ideas? hey, hey... after struggling, i got my card up - but still not online. ipw2200 fails with recent kernels in FC4

Dave and Warren, I'd comment about this in reply to the announcement about the recently released FC4 kernel kernel-2.6.14-1.1644_FC4 but there was no announcement (or I didn't get it) ;-] It seems that the problem we had with ipw2200 failing with rawhide kernels is doing the same thing with the FC4 2.6.14 kernels now. I've reopened the bug report: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=172254 and moved it to FC4, but I was just wanting to make you aware that this is a problem in FC4 now (and driving my wife nuts ;-]). The battery status display part of the new gnome power manager seems to work okay but when I go to the preferences I get a gnome-power-preferences has quit unexpectedly message. No messages to log about it.

udev alpha testing

I would be glad, if the really brave could compile, install and test: ftp://people.redhat.com/harald/udev/076-1/ Beware this could end in a non-bootable system. This version removes the hardware initializing/module loading phase from rc.sysinit. Udev should do most, if not all job. I am interested in any missing modules, that were loaded before.
