Hi Guys, Why we mantain the transifex translate in our transifex[1], if it have yourself upstream project? Should we remove this project from our infra? Thanks! You can add new team on Tx.net [1] and you can also use our repo on Sf.net [2] (if the name "man-pages-ru" doesn't embarrass you :). You can also add page in your language with instructions to Sf.net (ask me about it in private letter). One can find some details about project [2] in file [3]. There are 3 coordinators (Russian): kruvalig (Valerij Kruchko)- project [1] on Tx.net (from Russian Fedora L10N Team); yuray (Yuri Kozlov) - project on Sf.net [2] (He is from Debian community); and I (mama-sun, Inna Kabanova) - I'm responsible for communications with other projects in Russia, with Russian Fedora L10N Team and others. (But if you have some technical questions you had better ask yuray :). And what about project [4]: it is project of Vladimir Stupin (morbo). He created it to translate into Russian man-pages he want. According to what Yuri's said me about your questions in our project we have only one upstream project (kernel.org) and we didn't solve the problem of adding a new one. But it's interesting for us. Introducing myself to Fedora translators

Hello Fedora people! My name is Jesús Franco, alias Tezcatl(or tzk) in many pages out there, because Tezcatlipoca is poor known as brother of Quetzalcoatl and as dark-mage, but that's not fair. He represents the wisdom of the subconscious mind and the older values of humanity. Maybe you has guessed now, i'm from Mexico. I'm GNU/Linux user from 4 years ago and i've done translations for projects like riseup.net and others related to autonomy and security. My work in free software movement has been in workshops of digital inclusion with children and elder people, from fundamentals of ofimatics to introduction to programming for kids with Scratch of MIT. Installfests has not been very appealing to me, but with a friend i've worked in the migration of 2 after-school centres in towns of high levels of margination in Mexico City and Chimalhuacán, State of Mexico. Actually that was done with Ubuntu the last year, but i've discovered Fedora now and i like it very much because his commitment to free software it's more definite. However in the FliSol of this year i'll promote Fedora with a presentation and giving personal guidance and support for the guys and girls who wants give a try to Fedora in the installation area. My goals joining to Fedora translators (Spanish specifically) are 1. supporting the translation of documentation more necessary to let other instructors like me using Fedora in live or online workshops of "digital inclusion" as an approach to the empowering of marginalized communities reducing the "digital breach". 2. Making proposal of correction of sexism in the language of traductions, much more problematic in spanish than in english, i want to believe Fedora has a wise community very proud to be the First to include the better Features in his contributions to the whole open source ecosystem. Finally, i'm sorry for my poor writing abilities in english, i'm not used to translate from spanish to english. More likely from english to my language. default link for untranslated books

I was looking for the F13 install guide at the new docs site [1] but, as there is no Spanish version yet, the site seems to indicate that there is no install-guide at all [2]. Is it possible to have at the left the links to the English version for the untranslated books? So the Fedora documetation list is complete. New users will see untranslated guides in English and would probably want to join us in the translation efforts. What do other language coordinators think? The situation is not so bad for widely translated languages, but for less widely translated languages, users will click on links and most will be in English; they might not even discover that *any* books have been translated into their language, so the hard work of the translation team gets lost in a sea of English. In case translators have not realised, the menus are now all automatically generated, so it's not possible for us to manually add links any more. I will ask the Publican developer today whether some kind of "cross linking" is possible. Even if this becomes possible, it would solve problem 1 but not problem 2. I wonder if a better solution would be for me to add a prominent notice to the "Welcome" page to tell visitors "to see a full list of all documentation, change the language to English"? Cheers Rudi

A suggestion on PO files in transifex

Hi everyone, There are a lot of po files in transifex, and the number is growing. It's hard to know where the strings of a po file will appear in the distribution. For instance, I found some Simplified Chinese translation errors in Fedora 13 DVD installation -- timezone setting screen and root password setting screen. But I don't know which po file(s) they belong to. So is it possible to add some detailed description for each component, what are they, where they will appear in the distribution and so on, so that translators can find the strings they need to translate/fix more quickly. Just today I've attended a lecture about Fedora's approach to an open source development and since I was already thinking of contributing to a development process of some Linux distribution, I decided to give it a try. I'm a 20-year-old IT student currently looking for an opportunity to make use of my English and computer skills. I haven't had a chance to gather a solid work experience yet, however I'd consider myself an advanced Linux user (~4 years of practical use of Arch Linux & Fedora including some sysadmining) and this type of work wouldn't be a problem. I have some experience with programming & scripting in several languages as well (C(++), ASM, Bash, Perl). So far I'm interested only in localizing (all sorts of material available).
