Proposal: Fedora G11N Steering Committee

Hi All, I am sure, most of the people working with Fedora I18N, L10N from 5-6 year must be aware regarding Fedora L10N Steering Committee. [1] As far as i know this committee was active around 2009 and very effective. During Fedora G11N activity day discussions, we again felt there is need for some kind of official committee to drive Fedora Globalization activities. Fedora is growing faster with number of different domains and G11N also need to adapt those changes quickly to remain on the track. For this purpose and in line with [1], we were thinking of Fedora Globalization steering committee. I have created initial proposal for it. [2] Its open for feedback, please feel free to share other active members, discuss in your respective language groups. This is just initial proposal and i am sure, we can improve and make it more effective with active participation. Just to make sure, We are requesting to add the rule for dual form.. the other rule can be ignored. 0 : n==1 : singular form 1 : n==0||n >2 :plural form 2 : n==2 : dual form We do not actually need the many form for the translation to be correct. You may translate - Fedora Media Writer for F25

Dear translator teams, if you're done with priority packages and are looking for a little work dedicated to Fedora 25, please have a look to Fedora Media Writer. Zanata link : https://fedora.zanata.org/iteration/view/mediawriter/master It means 400 words to translate. At the moment, only Czech and Polish are 100%, while Ukrainian is 98% and Slovak is 68%. All other languages are 0%, too bad for what I feel like as the first Fedora program the newcomer will see ;) About schedule, I assume translation done by Beta release would probably be available by the time final release comes. I'll ask confirmation to Martin Bříza (maintainer) about it next week. L10N after Contributors and Coordinators, let's go deeper

Dear coordinators, We have two clear L10N roles : * Contributor * Team coordinator I now suggest to clarify one last one, the role of the people having special helping the global coordination. This role is actually held by a few people : mainly by Noriko Mizumoto, but maybe also Alex Aeng and Piotr Drąg?. Why would I want to give them an "official title" ? I want to have more description on the wiki about people to reach to answer/solve wider problems/questions. Typical use cases : * I want to take coordinator role of a team but the previous coordinator do not answer anymore * I want to change content on Zanata (like groups, welcome page) * I need administrator help on trans@ mailing list * I need administrator help on FAS groups * I want to add a new language Those people are administrator of our tools, to help as superpower people when coordinators are stuck. This role is not in competition with the group decision management we have : every coordinator has the possibility to assists G11N meetings and L10N meetings, to share ideas, lead projects, organize events, improve process, make communications. I aim to keep the inverted pyramid logic and suggest ***L10N Pillars***. Pillars < Coordinators < Translators. Please give your feedback about this proposal before September 25th. Strange language "drops" on Wiki

Each time I open Fedora Wiki (https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Fedora_Project_Wiki) as anonymous (so not logged in), I do not see Czech translation available in the language bar until I log in with my credentials. Sometimes, it also helps to click some links there and back to let Czech language appear. Has anyone else the same issue please? Note: For some time it looked to me like all languages located before "English (en)" position are missing each time but later I found out the other languages are just on the other place in the language bar (or at least seem to be). Later, when Czech translation pops up in the bar, all languages are sorted as they should be. Many thanks for your comments in advance.

Wiki category: "Language"

Hello all Some localizations have created Category for their own language like examples below: - https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Category:Brazilian_translations - https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Category:Spanish_translations - https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Category:Italiano I like it a lot and would like to apply the same for Czech translation. So I added "Category: Czech translation" at the end of translated page on "Overview/cs". When I clicked on red link of this new Category to create that page, I realized that someone did the same in the past already (see https://fedoraproject.org/w/index.php?title=Category:Czech_translations&act… - there is reported another page "F18_release_announcement/cs" that has the same category). So here are my questions: 1) Is there any way to see if there is already created some "Category:Czech..." do avoid duplication or mess creation in the wiki? 2) If I have to create new Category for Czech, how to code the category page to get such a nice overview like the examples above have? I checked the code of the pages above but there is no function called or anything else what would generate that overview of translated pages. Last but not least - if this topic was already heavily discussed in the past, please do not waste your time with explanation "how-to" but let me just know that I have to dig in the archive.
