Proposal: Fedora G11N Steering Committee

Hi All, I am sure, most of the people working with Fedora I18N, L10N from 5-6 year must be aware regarding Fedora L10N Steering Committee. [1] As far as i know this committee was active around 2009 and very effective. During Fedora G11N activity day discussions, we again felt there is need for some kind of official committee to drive Fedora Globalization activities. Fedora is growing faster with number of different domains and G11N also need to adapt those changes quickly to remain on the track. For this purpose and in line with [1], we were thinking of Fedora Globalization steering committee. I have created initial proposal for it. [2] Its open for feedback, please feel free to share other active members, discuss in your respective language groups. This is just initial proposal and i am sure, we can improve and make it more effective with active participation. Fedoracommunity.org translation

Hello all Recent post about translation completion of Fedoracommunity.org made me curious to check this web in order to see if all works fine for my language as well. The link leads me to "http://fedoracommunity.org/emea" by default where all is translated just fine. But if I click on any other region from the menu bar (Asia-Pacific for example), the first sentence is not translated in the first section "Region-Wide Resources". I speak about sentence "The Asia-Pacific region is served by the...." The same repeats for the other regions except the mentioned EMEA region which is fine. Well I went to zanata to see why this sentence is not translated (the translation status is 100% for my language) and found out this particular sentence is available for translation just for the EMEA region. The other sentences from other regions are not available in zanata at all. The same section "Region-Wide Resources" contains one more untranslated sentence "EMEA events listing on the Fedora Project wiki" which is not translated for any of the regions. This sentence is not in Zanata as well. How to deal with this issue please? Where can I report it? Thanks Z.

Introducing myself

Hi all! I am new to this mailing list and would like to introduce myself. I am an automation technician and technical institute engineer. I have been using various Linux distros on and off since 2005 when I first got introduced to Fedora. I've switched between Ubuntu, Debian, Mint and Fedora, but over time I have found that Fedora is the distro that suits me best and the one I actually enjoy quite a lot. For a few years a Macbook has been my goto-computer, but I've tried to keep up with what's happening in the Linux world. Now I want to contribute to the Fedora project since I've started using it on a regular basis again, simply because I think it's a brilliant system. In time I want to contribute in development and programming, but first I want to get to know Fedora even better by contributing to docs and translation. I have signed up for several of the mailing lists, including the join, docs and trans lists. I have registered on FAS, signed CLA and uploaded the SSH key. In Zanata I am approved for writing and I have logged in to Pagure. I have already translated some content in Zanata to get started. I have also joined several IRC channels where my nick is foroysund. I have to admit that it has been a bit overwhelming to get an overview of all the different sites and systems that are being used. I still struggle finding my way around, but I'll get a hold of it soon. I look forward to contributing and collaborating with you all. If anyone has any advice or heads up for me it will be highly appreciated. Also, I still have no access to any FAS groups (except Signed CLA Group and Signers of the Fedora Project Contributor Agreement), but I've applied to the Fedora Translators Group. I would like to hear from you if there are any other groups or forums I should join. Zanata statistics

Hi! Currently my biggest problem with Zanata - beside the minor annoyances - is the need to click through all the project for changes. As AFAIK there is no built-in notification system, I would like to write a script to pull the current translation state from Zanata. Preferable this would be a list of API calls with curl, so I could make a script, in which I put the project, the version and the locale, and it says X untranslated, Y translated, Z approved. You get the idea. Is there such a solution for Zanata? If not, are there any alternatives? Thanks in advance, Balázs Meskó, fellow translator
