Warning! Possible Thunderbird problem

Yesterday, I ran an update on my desktop, using F 16 that included an update to Thunderbird. The new version wouldn't run, but I was able to get it back by downgrading. I updated again, today (I do it every morning while my breakfast's cooking.) and Tbird "updated" again. Same issue, but now, I can't downgrade or roll back the transaction. Tbird on my main computer is DOA. I've opened a bugzilla at https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=907043 and am using my laptop for email. (No, I'm not allowing Tbird to update here until it's back up on the desktop.) I don't know what's causing it, but I thought I'd put out a warning so that nobody else has to get caught by it, or open a duplicate report if they do.

Fedora 17 Kernel Updates

Hi, When I run a Fedora 17 Repository update and a new kernel has been introduced, the updating of the kernel implements a grub2 update. In order to do this grub update the process invokes /sbin/grubby, which fails with an access denied failure. Why does grubby fail with this error when the repository update is running in root mode under sudo or su? Correct me if I am wrong, but I though grubby was for updating legacy grub, hence why is the process invoking grubby at all for a grub2 update? regards, Steve

GTK3 themes not working on Fedora 18?

Hi, no matter how many GTK3 themes I install, gnome-tweak-tool only shows me "Adwaita" and "High Contrast" as options for the "Gtk+ Theme" combo on the Theme panel. Any advice? Right now I have these installed: ~ rpm -qa \*gtk3-theme\* greybird-gtk3-theme-1.0.7-1.fc18.noarch egtk-gtk3-theme-3.1-2.fc18.noarch adwaita-gtk3-theme-3.6.2-1.fc18.x86_64 albatross-gtk3-theme-1.2-4.fc18.noarch bluebird-gtk3-theme-0.6-5.fc18.noarch Not sure this is relevant, but judging from the listing above Adwaita (one of the themes that are working) is the only which isn't a "noarch" rpm. Memory leak in xorg?

I use xorg-x11-server-Xorg-1.12.4-2.fc17.x86_64 with priority Nvidia Driver with KDM-Kwin-KDE ... I don't know which one has memory leak but plasma-desktop and kwin and kdm use normal memory (I mean after working for some days with my system, the memory usage of them is the same or very little change) but the X process collect my ram and won't get it back, if I continue to use my system, it can reach 700 MiB or even going over GiB ... I don't know wich one have memory leak (if this is realy a leak) can anyone help? what is this in line 6 of pmap output? I've just changed a monitor and need to set the resolution to 1680 x 1050 @60Hz [ViewSonic VX2035WM]. XFCE display settings offers nothing higher than 1024 x 758 @60Hz which it seems to default to. The Gigabyte motherboard shows a max. of 1920 x 1200. I looked in the BIOS settings and don't see anything I recognize as setting this although I may have missed something I suppose. The system runs F-18/64 and XFCE as I said. This is a new problem to me, usually video settings just work without my attention, I haven't used this monitor before and perhaps it does not identify itself? Dunno. Disabling SlowKeys?

I, along with many others, have a frequent annoyance where SlowKeys gets enabled in the X server. Yes, I can work around it by holding down a shift key to turn it off again. But is there any way I can permanently disable it? Some way of configuring the X server such that it never enables SlowKeys? I'm getting *really* fed up with it, and no one seems to know what's turning it on. It's certainly *not* being enabled by me holding down shift. And the bug report implies that the X server itself isn't capable of turning it on. So it must be an application that's doing it. However, I'm not running anything that I wasn't running in previous Fedora releases, but I never had this problem until F17 :-( Tet -- "Java is a DSL for taking large XML files and converting them to stack traces" -- Bulat Shakirzyanov

f18 replacement for KEYTABLE, SYSFONT?

Greetings. I just did a "fedup" upgrade from f17 to f18. The system is now up and running, mostly just fine, but I did notice a brief warning message during boot to the effect that KEYTABLE is deprecated. I've seen some mention of this on the web, and it appears that a solution MIGHT be to replace the word KEYTABLE with the word KEYMAP in the appropriate place or places. In another place I've seen it suggested that there are TWO changes that are required: KEYTABLE --> vconsole.keymap SYSFONT --> vconsole.font I do see the term KEYTABLE in one place in my /boot partition: # pwd /boot # find . -type f -exec grep -i keytable {} /dev/null \; ./efi/EFI/redhat/grub.conf: kernel /vmlinuz-3.7.4-204.fc18.x86_64 rd.md=0 rd.lvm=0 rd.dm=0 root=UUID=20ccc8f9-c293-4fba-888d-fd54f476d36a KEYTABLE=us acpi=off noapic SYSFONT=True rd.luks=0 ro LANG=en_US.UTF-8 rhgb quiet nouveau.modeset=0 rd.driver.blacklist=nouveau . . . It would be easy enough to edit grub.conf to substitute vconsole.keymap (or KEYMAP?) for KEYTABLE and vconsole.font (or FONT?) for SYSFONT. Is that the right thing to do? Mouse Stops Responding - F18

I've noticed that since upgrading to F18, my mouse will work splendidly for a while and then it becomes most peculiar in its behavior. I will be able to "Open" a new application or folder / file.......but the left mouse (nor right for that matter!) button will do nothing within the folder / file or application. The only way I can quit anything is to go to the top of the screen and right click on the Icon that represents the app.....file/folder and select "Quit......otherwise I can only hit the Control+q button combo and end the application that way. Anyone know what I should do?.... Thank In Advance EGO II
