Any apps for using a tablet as a second monitor?

Hi all, I came across this video; https://youtu.be/jwhFr5Ax3Fk Setting aside the cheese at the end, it actually seems like a brilliant idea. I wonder if anyone knows of anything like this for using android tablets as second/third displays on Fedora? This would make dev work sooooo much nicer! I generally don't use an external monitor simply because they're not portable. bluetooth mouse

I have an old Dell Vostro 1500 laptop. It was running Fedora 17 with no problems with the bluetooth mouse I use. After a fresh install of Fedora 24 Workstation I can't get the mouse to reconnect after a boot. Systemctl reports bluetoothd 'Failed to obtain handles for "Serviced Changed" characteristic'. Both blueman-manager and blueman-applet report the adapter is off and are unable to turn it on. I can go into bluetoothctl, power on the adapter and connect to the mouse. Things are fine until a reboot. lshw reports the bluetooth adapter is a Broadcom BCM2045. Any thoughts on how to get the adapter powered on at boot and the mouse auto-reconnected as it nicely did 7 Fedora releases ago. Thanks, Jon -- Jon H. LaBadie jonfu(a)jgcomp.com

Network problem in Fedora 24

My problem is this --- on Fedora 23 I was managing my network interface my self since Network Manager was causing problems. Now in F24, I noticed that my nic now has the SLAVE flag on. I do not have any network access at all. I tried allowing Network Manager to control the device but still had the same problem. I am writing this using the F23 kernel. My configuration looks like this: ONBOOT="yes" NM_CONTROLLED=NO TYPE="Ethernet" BOOTPROTO=none DNS1=10.55.240.10 DNS2=10.55.240.20 DNS3=208.67.220.220 DOMAIN=mydomain.org DEFROUTE=yes IPV4_FAILURE_FATAL=yes IPV6INIT=no NAME="enp2s0" UUID="e4039d87-4a6d-41a4-b2a6-18d714682ea6" HWADDR="C0:3F:D5:43:D6:30" USERCTL=NO SLAVE=NO MTU=9000 IPADDR=10.55.240.10 PREFIX=24 GATEWAY=10.55.240.254 Any suggestions? I used to do it in All Settings/Mouse and Touchpad applet. It doesn't appear to be there any more. How do I tell Fedora to not use the touchpad? TC

Hi all, There was a thread on here recently about ssh agent forwarding. Usually I start it like this: <code> ssh-agent ssh-add </code> I came across a situation where I couldn't establish a connection to the agent when I tried to "ssh-add" my keys. ssh-agent had been executed already. It had somehow become discombobulated. The solution was to invoke ssh-agent differently: <code> eval `ssh-agent -s` ssh-add </code> Hope that saves somebody else some headaches ;D Mike Wright

fedora 23 bluetooth connection

Something changed (although not fatally): I use Bluetooth speakers quite often. Back in F22 or so after pairing the device merely turning it on caused Fedora to connect to it. Several months ago, now on F23, (not sure when this problem appeared) that changed and after turning the speaker on, I have to go into Bluetooth Settings where the device appears as "Disconnected", select it and activate the "Connection" switch several times and it will eventually connect and be available for selection in the "Sound Settings" after which it works fine. Is there a path back? Upgrading from 23 to 24

Hello, my upgrade attempt from Fedora 23 to Fedora 24 gave the folling error: # dnf system-upgrade download --refresh --releasever=24 RPM Fusion for Fedora 24 - Free - Updates 453 kB/s | 185 kB 00:00 Adobe Systems Incorporated 10 kB/s | 1.8 kB 00:00 RPM Fusion for Fedora 24 - Nonfree - Updates 340 kB/s | 95 kB 00:00 RPM Fusion for Fedora 24 - Free 506 kB/s | 260 kB 00:00 RPM Fusion for Fedora 24 - Nonfree 248 kB/s | 62 kB 00:00 Error: cannot install both kernel-PAE-4.6.4-301.fc24.i686 and kernel-PAE-4.6.4-201.fc23.i686 (try to add '--allowerasing' to command line to replace conflicting packages) Is it save to use the option '--allowerasing'? 4.6.4-201.fc23.i686+PAE, which would be deleted is the current running kernel. When will the delete happen? Hopefully later with the "dnf system-upgrade reboot". Thanks in advance, Frank Elsner

But if "yum" is replaced with "dnf", it works. The National Weather Service RADAR loops now work. I thank everyone that tried to help. I'm marking this issue solved. Bill.

Printing From Fedora to HP Laser Jet 1020 on D-Link Print Server

I have a D-Link DSL 2750U Router which also has a USB Port that can be used to connect a USB Printer and make the router work as a Print Server. I have been trying to print to a HP Laser Jet 1020 Printer using this print server from Fedora 23/24. The D-Link documentation suggests specifying http://172.16.100.1:631/printers/HP as the Printer URI. This configuration works very well over the network while using a Windows system but it does not print at all from the Fedora machine even after trying various permutations and combinations. Also, the printer works fine when its connected locally to the Fedora 24 system. Has anyone tried a similar thing or can give any suggestions ? This laser printer is a "special printer" and uses the foo2zjs driver ( http://foo2zjs.rkkda.com/ ) to print on Linux and it loads a firmware on the printer. The D-Linux DSL 2750U is also a Linux device and is running ippd for this print server to work. The printer is assigned the /dev/usb/lp/lp0 device on the D-Link router. I could also find the firmware for this printer on the router box under /etc/hotplug/firmware directory and I assume it will be getting pushed to the printer when its connected. TIA, Manish Kathuria

Turning off assitive technologies

This is probably off topic, but I was playing around with the universal access technologies on Fedora 24, and I'm in a weird state. I enabled it in Gnome Classic, but there doesn't seem to be a way to turn it off. If I logout from Gnome Classic and login using the MATE desktop and go to the assistive technologies entry in the control panel it shows it as not enabled, i.e the checkbox is not checked. However, the system is still saying every character I type. I would have thought that if I logout and change desktops it should disable the universal access technologies. Anybody have an idea how to turn it off? Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Paolo
