remove/delete files with dots "." in the name..

Hi. Test file with a name of: 67.205.168.80_PID.dat find . -name '*.dat' -exec ls {} \; displays the file but find . -name '*.dat' -exec rm -f {} \; doesn't delete it. thoughts? thanks

Hey guys. Thanks for the delete replies.. Got a quick sed question now.. test file:: head -2 sed.dat 228d98f0_f16a_11e6_9544_1ad613f05f7b,1486934882 22b93712_f16a_11e6_a6ad_1ad613f05f7b,1486934883 want to simply truncate/search/replace the end of each line starting with the "," to get 228d98f0_f16a_11e6_9544_1ad613f05f7b 22b93712_f16a_11e6_a6ad_1ad613f05f7b the following isn't working sed -i 's/\,+\$//' sed.dat sed -i 's/\,+$//' sed.dat I'm sure it's simple/trivial... thoughts...

cups and sys v scripts

Cups appears to not support sys v scripts any more. cuips version 2+ lpadmin treats '-i' as a ppd file. I copied a configuration (/etc/cups) from a system that successfully uses sys v scripts (cups-1.7.2-1.fc20) to cups 1-7.5 and the script is ignored. Normally ppd files are OK but I'm driving a dot matrix printer that needs form feeds adding etc. Can anyone cast light on this?

You don't know what the update is about, you don't know what the original package is for. Likewise, when doing YUM searches, there are packages with crap descriptions. I wish that sort of useless description would result in packages getting an automatic banning. That and URIs that don't work, or lead to similarly un-useful websites. I've seen plenty of packages with links that lead to some GITHUB kind of thing with zero information about what the package actual does or is used for, and no links anywhere on the page that lead to something else that might explain what it is. radiotray, gstreamer plugin

Using "radiotray" in a mate environment on Fedora 24. For many stations I get the following warning message: Your GStreamer installation is missing a plug-in. gstdecodebin2.c(3576): gst_decode_bin_expose (): \ /GstPlayBin2:player/GstURIDecodeBin:uridecodebin7/ \ GstDecodeBin2:decodebin26: \ no suitable plugins found So far as I can tell, all the available plugins for gstreamer and gstreamer1 (12 each) are installed. What do Network Manager / Network Messages Mean That are Shown at Boot Time

Hi, What do the messages listed below, particularly the last two, which are listed in boot.log, mean relative to ethernet and wifi network devices (I am assuming a wireless mouse has no impact on this situation) that are configured in Network Manager to not be connected to at boot time and definitions that are? Starting Network Manager... [ OK ] Started Network Manager. Starting Network Manager Wait Online... Starting Network Manager Script Dispatcher Service... [ OK ] Started Network Manager Script Dispatcher Service. [ OK ] Started Network Manager Wait Online. Starting LSB: Bring up/down networking... [ OK ] Started LSB: Bring up/down networking. [ OK ] Reached target Network. [ OK ] Reached target Network is Online. I am particularly interested in whether the last two are produced because the checking process successfully found usable devices that could be used for the network, as opposed to devices that Network Manager has been told to connect to at boot, and if it is the latter option how can the network be online when dkms has not finished compiling and installing into the kernel the driver for the only device that Network Manager has been told to connect to boot. I am assuming that the pci wireless device that functions with an inbuilt kernel module (ATH9K) is not being network activated when there isn't a definition for that device in Network Manager. regards, Steve

Extreme UI lag when copying files on Nautilus( fedora 25)

I am encountering a bug that causes extreme UI and mouse lag when copying files using Nautilus on a fedora 25 installation. The system is up to date as of 9/2/2017. This is encountered both when I'm copying from a directory on the internal hard drive to another directory or from a directory from the internal hard drive to a removable media. Mouse, switching windows pressing super, everything lags. The lag stops when the copy operation is completed or if I cancel it. Is this a known bug with a workaround or should I report it ? If I should report it can you point me where and how ?

Hibernation on F25

Hi all, do you guys were able to hibernate your Fedora 25. In my previous fedora pm-hibernate worked perfectly but now it seems much more complicate. I tried to install this extension for gnome: https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/755/hibernate-status-button/ but probably I have something more to do. Any suggestion is more than welcome.
