Is possible use the "initial package for f18" compiz with Gnome 3? Or it is only for other D.E.?
Thanks
In fedora 18 the compiz has been gone - it's obsolete.

Ah! Is there other program that replace it?
Compiz *was* obsoleted but a new maintainer has revived it and Fedora 18 builds are available again

Note that the entire GNOME Shell UI is a plugin to Mutter which is the window manager for GNOME 3.

Ok, now is NOT obsolete. (as the subject suggests)
Then the question is: it's (or not is) possible install it and use it with Gnome 3? Or is designed for other D.E.?
Thanks

Briefly: no
Long: In GNOME 3.6 only in fallback mode, not in the normal mode as Rahul explained. Fallback mode is going away with GNOME 3.8, so even if you'd use it in fallback mode, it would be for one release at most.
What compiz features do you use most btw?

Ok, now is clear, thanks.

My question is only for know why compiz is back, and for which D.E. can be use it.
Thanks for reply.

I used a lot of the eye candy, including the desktop cube, on my laptop. Then, when I was showing Windows users what Linux could do, I was able to show them lots and lots of impressive effects that they couldn't get on Windows. My laptop came with Vista, and still has the stickers, so I could show them that this started out as a plain vanilla Windows laptop, meaning that the difference was strictly the OS. Then I'd ask them, "If Linux can do this, why can't Windows?" Great advertising!

which Fedora version and D.E. you use compiz?
This was on F 14 with Gnome 2 and later with Xfce. Yes, that was quite a while ago; that's why I used the past tense.
