I have tried to cut my videos to pieces, and stream back them together to have the best moments that I have recorded - but it seems that I couldn't.... The newest pitivi at last works, not crashing, but I couldn't control the audio part of the clips - however would be fine for this case, but rendering the project doesn't saves ANY audio.... Ok, have installed Avidemux, where I have more control. Same result, and more because crashes, freezing as should.... I have tried bunch of softwares - but right now, I sitting here on pile of recorded home movies - and couldn't do anything.... I don't want to give up, but if somebody says that I have to debug, or test or ANYTHING to achive better multimedia support - I'M HERE.... :(

What characteristics does your source files have? What's the audio format? video format? container format? Also, what is your intended destination format (video/audio/container)?
I usually use AviDemux to do simple cuts without any problems.
Once you load your input file into AviDemux, are you able to hear the audio when you play it there (within Avidemux) ?
I know there's a new editor around called "OpenShot" which apparently is very good. You might give it a try. I haven't tried myself.
Finally, remember that with many of these editors/players, you need a plethora of supporting libraries (ffmpeg, lame etc) in order to read/write many of these formats.

Bigger part is AC3, MP3, and some apple formats, videostream is AVI, MP4 - and I would like to have free formats like theora/ogg. I know I have these proprietary formats, but that's what I have. Yet I don't wanna any virtual instance of windows or even dualboot....

That's not working, if I load the files, mostly drops an message that "If the file is using B-frames as reference it can lead to a crash or stuttering. Avidemux can use another mode which is safe but YOU WILL LOSE FRAME ACCURACY. Do you want to use that mode?" - If say no here - avidemux collapses and dies like a wind, if I say yes - the program slows down to bottom speed, and makes uneditable the file.

As I tried out many times - no. No audio is audible. Else in normal way in ANY player plays them.

The problem is Openshot uses some closed source part, therefore I have to always hunt after the last rpm's if some volunteers are build them. An another issue is that I use 64bit AMD version...

Sure. I know this. I have installed everything that I could, or know or need - but it seems that isn't enough. Furthermore I have to do some contributions to Goddard Space Center, but yet again I couldn't - and I have to beg again to my friend to edit them with their MAC..... but I slowly fed up with this....

I've seen this with many MP4s (h.264 video) from Apple. Usually If I just want to split some h.264 mp4 videos I'll use MP4Box which works nicely.
I see your problem...I guess you'll have to work with "mencoder" or "ffmpeg" (if you're comfortable with the command-line) in order to create some middleground video format that you can then use in one of these video editors (of course loosing quality on the way). mencoder usually handles everything I throw to him...

I'm not affraid to be dirty, and use cli - but loosing mass quality it's hell. I don't have money for an MAC, but right now an linux with multimedia seems for me a bit Star Trek stuff far away in future.... Same as when it's about serious music edition is on theme. I do my best always what I could, testing, translating - and I hope that what I found on some pages - solves my problems - and just waht i get is not just an fruity loops clone childsplay. Eh, just arguing.... I have fighted out that few music studios gives out their stuff when I could proof that an promotional video can be made on linux, and I could also make some promotional-marketing stuff for us Fedorians.... But right now, I just can't.... thanks for advices.
Cheers,
Zoltan
