I have a device setup instruction manual on a read-only disk which this fedora 29 system will not copy. Is there a way around this?

What command are you using? What error message does it give? How is the read-only disk mounted?
poc

. It is a small disk read from a dvd/cdrom reader. It came with an "IP camera" just delivered. I would like to save it to my NFS server but it does not put anything on the sever although it appears to go through the process of making the copy, when I read it from NFS there is no file there.
Copied to the Desktop it the .pdf does not display, Thunar protests it is a "broken link."

What does:
ls -l '/run/media/bobg/IP CAM/Operation Manual/WIFI HD IP Camera Quick Guide.pdf'
show? How about "file <same thing>"?

I am slow responding, had a busy morning, appointment, done now ...

. OK, that led to the solution of my problem:
[root@Box10 Desktop]# cp '/run/media/bobg/IP CAM/Operation Manual/WIFI HD IP Camera Quick Guide.pdf' /mnt/testb/ to put it on the NFS server ...
Which put it where I want it so I can view it conveniently ...
[root@Box83 testb]# ll -al 'WIFI HD IP Camera Quick Guide.pdf'
I always have to get a display to accommodate my eyesight. In this case Evince, larger, white on a black bg.
Thank you for the help,
Bob

' No, my "cp" command did not include the /run/media/bobg, I tried to work with a copy of the .pdf file saved to the Desktop. Seemed like it should have worked but apparently not. I don't remember the exact command I was trying to use but now I am able to follow the 'almost English' instructions using an iPad to get a picture from the camera.
