ANNOUNCE: KonkretCMPI 0.9.0 released

Disclaimer: I know this is OpenLMI mailing list, but I will post announcements about new versions of KonkretCMPI here, because many of OpenLMI providers use it. Since KonkretCMPI upstream [1] is dead for long time (last upstream version 0.8.7 was released 2008-10-22) I've decided to continue development myself. I don't have access to original SCM repository or web page, so I've created git repo at github [2]. Highlights of version 0.9.0: * Use CMake as buildsystem (added FindCMPI.cmake and FindKonkretCMPI.cmake modules) * Python bindings for the MOF parser * Fixed using experimental schema * Assertion crash fixed * Add missing headers * Many other minor bugs fixed You can download the new version from github [3]. It is already in Fedora rawhide and it's coming to Fedora 18 soon. Invoke installfromuri - software update

Hi, I am trying to implement software update provider for firmware updating. I have done following things.. 1. Created a new instance of CIM_SoftwareInstallationService. 2. Downloaded URI link 3. Then set success as method, KUint32_Set(&result, 0); KSetStatus(status, OK); in spec I shall copied herre the body content of response, <n1:InstallFromURI_OUTPUT> <n1:ReturnValue>0</n1:ReturnValue> </n1:InstallFromURI_OUTPUT> </s:Body> I don't know how to put description here, for this which method I shall calling. 4. I don't know about CIM_ConcretJob class details. How to fill this class properties values. Regards, George

Right now, it's listed upstream as LGPLv2+, but I think this might not be the ideal license here. My reasoning is that our intended use for these scriptons is that administrators should be able to take them and adapt them for their own use cases. However, the LGPLv2 license *requires* that they make their modifications public. We want to encourage them to submit their changes back, but I think that for this use-case, the LGPLv2 may be a little too heavyweight. New version of OpenLMI-providers is out there right now: 0.1.0 What's new? - All classes now have proper version in their MOF files. - All providers now announce implemented DMTF and/or SNIA standards in root/interop - CIM_RegisteredProfile class (OpenPegasus only). - Many packaging improvements, bugfixes and enhanced test suite. Hardware: - New providers for chassis ports, system slots, pointing devices and battery. - Updated provider for PCIDevices. Account: - Indication support. Having openlmi-* providers released, there is a new version of openlmi-tools 0.6 available in Fedora Rawhide. What's new? - indications support; subscription and listening - lazy class fetching when working with LMIClasses - classes caching - UDS connection to TOG-Pegasus, when connections as root to localhost - configuration file (~/.lmishellrc) - dictionary-based filtering for LMIInstance and LMIInstanceName - synchronous method calls - not 100% complete, we are waiting for TOG-Pegasus for fixes - creation of a new LMIInstanceName - access constant values (Values + ValueMap from MOF definition) - no sample scripts present - history file renamed to ~/.lmishell_history - man page generator - uses https://fedorahosted.org/openlmi/wiki/shell pages to generate the man page content - moved the shell into $(PYTHON_SITELIB)/lmi/shell to make the shell compatible with other providers, etc. - switched from autotools to setuptools - new CLI options for basic logging setup - bug fixes and code cleanups Cheers -- Peter Hatina

New in this version: - Asynchronous activation of the SettingData (now returns a job) - Indications - Better configuration of bridging and bonding - All classes now have proper version in their MOF files. - All providers now announce implemented DMTF and/or SNIA standards in root/interop - CIM_RegisteredProfile class (OpenPegasus only). - Many packaging improvements, bugfixes and enhanced test suite. Fedora rawhide should be the development platform

Hi everyone, with F-19 release we should move the development effort to the future Fedora 20. Please make sure to upgrade your development machines to Rawhide and be careful with the changes you're pushing to F-19. sblim-cmpi-syslog status update

I know this has nothing to do with OpenLMI project, but I just wanted to give a heads-up about what's available. The syslog provider from sblim project kinda supplements OpenLMI functionality as we don't have our own logging services (yet?) and can be used nicely side by side. I wrote a small wiki page describing what's available and what needs to be fixed, published on https://fedorahosted.org/openlmi/wiki/sblim-cmpi-syslog together with basic examples using lmishell. It's not linked from the mainpage yet as I seem to have no permission for edit. Can somebody please put this link in a new category? ("Related projects" may be a good title for that) Recently there was a new upstream release improving rsyslog support but there are still some design issues, as described on the wiki page. FWIW, my short-term plan is to write journald OpenLMI provider however it's not going to be direct replacement as journal doesn't have complete functional parity with classic syslog daemons.
