Wither Compiz on Rawhide

I changed to an Asus 3450 passively cooled video card (ATI chip) but Rawhide still won't do desktop effects. Between ATI and Nvidia - isn't that most of the market? Server upgrade

I upgraded to Rawhide my old 256MB server in the office (that is gateway, DHCP server and proxy) while on operation by yum. After solving some dependencies issues by removing old duplicated packages (coming from previous F8 installation), and after one afternoon of hard working (of the computer, not mine) due to the age of computer (400MHz) I rebooted and everything runs fine. Rawhide Sound

The silence of Rawhide on an Intel dg33bu motherboard ALC883 seems to be in the system, not Gnome. Audio can be made to work with an add-in sound card once the volume is turned up. Turning up the volume sliders for the default doesn't allow sound to get out. Ubuntu recognizes the HDMI audio output on an ATI video card. Rawhide does not. Both the 32 and 64 bit libasound some with the same example. Hi After doing update on 27 Sep 08, my internal microphone (on Acer TravelMate 6291 Laptop) works for the first time. (I found no way to make it work since F7). This is great. No GNOME sound effects in Rawhide

This seems to happen often to me - probably because I mess with my Rawhide systems, but I've lost the cut little GNOME sounds that used to play when perform various actions in GNOME. Pulseaudio is loaded, System->Preferences->Hardware->Sound->Devices->Sound Events is set to PulseAudio Sound Server, on the Sounds tab Sound Theme is default and all the checkboxes are checked, but I get no sound effects. What do I need to do to get my sound effects back?

annoying Package-Kit box at startup

Dear fellow testers, I probably rememeber someone mentioning this, but I can't seem to find the mail. Anyhow, when I start the system up, I get this box that pops up stating "Waiting for other tasks" and it stays there for a great while. I left it there for 3 hours and it did not do anything :(. I seem to believe that it is package-kit and it is getting to be annoying(this nothing behavior). I have diabled package-kit before but also thought about it helping testing it out since it is the default. I still prefer though to use yum in CLI. There might be bugs already filed, or RFE's with respect to Package-Kit and its behavior. If I click OK, the annoying box goes away :), but how can I get rid of it for good? If the medicine is harder than leaving it there, I will click OK everytime and forget about this annoying box Thanks, Antonio
