Has the policy for installing a non-SMP kernel in addition to an SMP kernel on SMP systems been changed (deliberately)? I have a dual core AMD x64 3800 on a Gigabyte GA-K8U-939 and only the SMP kernel was installed.
Incidentally, the SMP kernel fails to boot, but the non-SMP kernel is OK.
This is on the x32 FC5T1, not x64 FC5T1 - haven't got round to trying that one yet.

There's something about this in the release notes.

This problem was documented in the release notes. Boot with mem=nopentium
