Anyone experiencing evolution-2.7.2.1-4 from rawhide on a rawhide system crashing and not even able to get to my inbox? It seems to crash right upon start. Now this is a fresh rawhide install as of 2 hours ago. If I knew I could get my password set somehow before the crash, maybe it would go farther. But I don't know what is causing the crash.

I am not currently running rawhide or evolution, but this might work as far as letting you know what is going on. Bring up a terminal window in X and type in evolution. This should spit out some stuff. Then post the output. That info should help the developers.

Downgrade to gtk2-2.9.1 to make evo work. I'm looking into it.

Where can I find that version? One of the mirrors?

Found it on a mirror that hadn't seem to be updated in a couple weeks. Got it covered for now. New fix out today hopefully?
Thanks for the heads up,

Alternative quick hack workaround is to rebuild with - gc = g_label->style->fg_gc[state]; + gc = style->fg_gc[state]; in e-table-header-utils.c

No, it's not a real fix, just a quick hackaround.

Not necessary. I just put a proper fix in gtk. Should be in tomorrows rawhide.

The gtk2 upgrade that came out recently is the culprit. You need to downgrade that to get it back working.
2.9.1 I believe is the one that works.

gtk2.9 doesn't ship with FC5, but I'm seeing it too. connector seems to die as well, I'm going to backgrade it shortly unless I can find a solution.

Thats right gtk2-2.8.18-1 is the version I have (FC 5)
On my system evolution-connector crashes On my co workers machine after forwarding all his mail out of exchange and deleting (so he has an empty inbox). the conector when doing a refresh just hangs, strace shows it polling for ever and with gdb you see it get some xml stuff and then stop.
Forgot to add when polling it uses 100% CPU

Looks like this one https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=194503 is experiencing issues with that version of connector so I'm going to add some info to it. You may want to do the same as it seems you've done more debugging than me.

Still no fix out yet for the "Exchange connector it stuffed"
I hope this is fixed soon or I will have to format and install XP. I can'nt go much longer until my boss says; thats enough just use outlook at least it works..

Outlook blatently doesn't work - you're better off with the phone and some sticky notes.
I agree; but the situation I am in now has changed, we have used linux fot the last 7 years eg all the web sitees and file/ print. But with new managment MS is the go . File and print went real quick. Because I look after the the last few Linux machines I have used Linux on my desktop. Now that Evoluton doesn't seem to work. I am under presure to ditch linux and install XP.
www.cdu.edu.au will soon to be running IIS and MS CMS
Its a bummer have to look for another job

I'm trying to get a new connector built atm. But using rawhide in a production environment (ie "boss") is not recommended anyway. I'm sure you know that...

Yes I understand :)
The point is that Fedora 5 core's version of evolution did work but the upgrade (not to rawhide) made it not work.
May be it is my fault and I should have used a more stable (long term) distro like Ubuntu but I have been a redhat/fedora user for the past seven years and old habits die hard.
Just got a mesage from a freind of mine. as follows --------------- Mark,
I have a 'fixed' evolution.
To do this I fetched evolution-data-server, evolution-exchange and evolution src.rpms from testing/rawhide, and recompiled. Because of dependencies I had to recompile gnome-panel and gnome-power-manager as well.
I had to do some spec file hacking on evolution.
Anyway, now it works!
Let me know if you want the rpms. ----------------
