Hi to all,
I've tried to install %subj% on FC1 but X server fails on same
config
either with CC=gcc32 (for old-good 44.96). Do you have any expoerience how to successfuly install 53.28?

Before installing the nvidia drivers 4496 or the latest 5328 you
_must_
first remove XFree86-Mesa-libGL to avoid conflicts. After this
'export
CC=gcc32' then do the nvidia install as normal and all should be
fine.

I just did the nvidia install 5328 and had no problems so far i did
the
init 3.. installed the drivers and edited the x86 config file. then
init
5 and it went ok and shown an nvidia splash screen.. so you think i
will
be ok/? i am scared to rebooot my kernel in fear of a crash hehe
re-send as the reply seems to have got stripped and mashed on it's way. :/
You have the driver installed and thats Ok - Don't worry about reboots etc.! :) The need for removing the Mesa GL package is due to a file conflict which leads to GL related issues. The easiest way to see the problem is to fire up glxgears and then exit and try and fire it up again and watch the blank viewport. :( Removing the Mesa GL package prior to installing/re-installing the nvidia drivers removes the chance of this problem happening.

I have only ever played this game once and that was on RH 9. Maybe a visit to the AA forums would be the best, but don't just concentrate on the graphics as the source for the locks, maybe look at sound also - It's very shaky sometimes on GNU Linux.

GNU Linux? GNU does not have a Linux distribution, last I checked. Maybe you mean GNU/Linux?
Then again, we're *only* talking about the kernel, here. :-)

Picky... Ok, GNU/Linux it is. Where is your xmas spirit? Don't tell me - You've already drunk it! :)

Hm, problem still continues. I have well configured xserver with config in attachment. With 44.96 works ok. So I tried to install new 53.28:
rpm -e XFree-Mesa-GL (GL works even with 44.96 - /usr/libGL.so is link to /usr/libGL.so.44.96) telinit 3 export CC=gcc32 (for old 44.96 as well) ./NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-5328-pkg1 - it uninstall old (44.96) driver and build module for my kernel (2.4.22-1.2129.nptl.caps.rhfc1.ccrma) - everything seem to be ok, but Xserver fails to start and logs no error - screen in mingetty (console) is not redrawing - I have to switch (ctrl+alt+f2) to another and back to redraw screen console
After reinstall 44.96 works xserver well with the same XF86Config. So, I don't know where is a bug. Any ideas?

Hmm... Two cards of different makes and Xinerama - Not something I've had much contact/dealings with I have to say. One thing that did strike me though is that you make no use of 'Int10', thus all POSTing for the second card is currently being done through the nvidia kernel module. Could be a point of conflict/problems or maybe not, however you may wish to look at 'Int10' usage or ask around about this e.g. on the forums linked to from nvidia's GNU/Linux driver page.
