Hi, the kernels I have up to and including kernel-2.6.14-1.1696_FC5.i686.rpm have isa modules for sound cards (like mine - kernel/sound/isa/cs423x/snd-cs4236.ko s4236),
but starting with kernel-2.6.14-1.1707_FC5.i686.rpm, the only isa sound module I see is kernel/sound/isa/sb/snd-sb-common.ko.
Will I need to roll my own modules from here on out, is there some other module that should be a superset of the isa functionality, do I need to reconfigure something? The sound still works with the old kernel versions, so yes, my speakers work, etc...

As of 2.6.14-1.1703_FC5, CONFIG_ISA was turned off. Not sure why this didn't make it into the changelog.
The rationale is to start pruning out some of those drivers that aren't used by anything any more, such as 3c501, AdLib, and other antiquities.

My bad.

Yep. I'll turn this one back on for tomorrows build.

It also prunes stuff found in later laptops because some of the sound devices ike the CS423x attach to both an ISA bus card or various poci bridge "glue" bus interfaces but come under "ISA"
Stops a lot of older thinkpads being useful for example. (eg TP600)
