This will probably be considered a "minor" pain. And, since I don't use GNOME except in a VM for testing, I guess it is.
I'd just like to go on record to say I dislike a few things about the install process.
1. There is no option to set the hostname during install.
2. User creation is delayed until first boot and at the time of creation there is no option to specify the UID and GID. So, if you're like me, and use existing NFS services and your primary user doesn't have 1000/1000 for them you have to either know to create an initial throw away account or manually make changes later.

I'd recommend using the netinstall in this case. Maybe even setting up a kickstart you just update and reuse.

There is, but it's non-obvious. You have to set it in GNOME Settings before running the installer. I've complained about this in the past as well.

Or use FreeIPA/Active Directory to manage users and enroll as a client instead. This is generally a better idea than manually copying IDs around every time you deploy a new machine.
A hostname field would be nice, I don't have issues setting one after the fact though.

I want to perform some additional configuration before letting users log in to the desktop. The only way I've found to do this is to set up a user in the installer and switch to a console before finishing the process.
