I just downloaded and installed it. It installed without a hitch with Virtualbox, though Microsoft insisted I create an account -- which I've never done before. I didn't know that Win 10 was free from Microsoft. It's funny, I started using Linux back 20 years ago or so. Back then, you always had to have a copy of Windows on your box because there was always *something* that wouldn't work or run or whatever. Over the years, I've slowly used Windows less and less, and this last time I installed, I didn't bother making my machine dual boot -- I never "have" to go to Windows, except for font issues in presentations and such for compatibility at meetings. My brother-in-law was having problems with his laptop the other day and asked me to help him. It was running Windows 10. I turned it on and could hardly recognize it. I didn't know where anything was. It took me over two hours of reading tutorials and doing searches to make enough sense of things and get him going (after all, tasks are tasks no matter what your OS is...) . And even then I still don't know how to do a number of system things that I used to be able to do as late as Windows 7. I told myself I really ought to get a book on Windows 10 administration and get on the ball, but my eyes just glazed over. I thought systemd was adding too much complexity and too many layers of BS. It's got nothing on Microsoft. Windows 10 seems pretty opaque to me. But there it is, sitting in a window. Thanks for the link. billo

Sorry to bother the fedora list, but I'm not sure where to ask. I have a trial transcript in .ptx format I need to look at. Does anybody know of any tool in Fedora/Linux that can read these? Thanks, billo

Hello, I did nearly the same as here https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/Fedora/25/html/System_Administrators_G… by the way this ExecStart=/sbin/runuser -l USER -c "/usr/bin/vncserver %i -geometry 1280x1024" must be ExecStart=/usr/bin/vncserver %i -geometry 1280x1024 because the 'runuser'-variant doesn't work at all, no connection possible from VNCviewer; or is there also something missing in the SELinux policies? the -geometry parameter is ignored, I only get a display of 1024x768 when connecting with VNCviewer from other machine ... virtualbox and kernel 4.11.3-202.fc25.x86_64

Bonjour, I installed the last kernel (4.11.3-202.fc25.x86_64) today and there are no more virtualbox modules for this kernel: kmod-VirtualBox-5.1.20-1.fc25.x86_64 is empty and so systemd complains at boot time that virtualbox modules cannot be loaded.... What is this issue? Thunderbird needs update

There's a bug in TB 52.2.0 that causes TB to lose track of imap accounts and download stuff again and again, when it's not crashting. "Problems with Gmail (folders not showing, repeated email download, etc.) introduced in version 52.2.0." This is supposed to be fixed in 52.2.1. Unfortunately, it's not yet in updates or updates-testing. -- -- Steve

I know. Way off base. I'm trying to find a resource to fix restore a github app. The app's Github url is. --- lockitron - https://github.com/lockitron I've placed requests on different sites. So thought I'd post here to see if anyone might have thoughts on where I can post as well. Basically I'm willing to shell out some $$$ to anyone who can get this up/running. I've posted to CL, ycombinator(obs) different freelance sites, couple of IRC channels, etc. If you know of other places I can mention it, let me know. thanks guys!

ACPI errors revisited

A few weeks ago I started seeing error lines on a black screen at the start of the f25 boot process, but only recently have I found them in dmesg and examined them. Nothing seemed broken, and I took little notice. But now I see the date 20170119, which implies something in software. google found https://lkml.org/lkml/2017/4/10/1232, 'PCI IRQ allocation broken' - with undesirable effects. That's linked to https://bugzillakernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=195319 which is marked as a duplicate of BZ 195311 and closed. Perhaps coincidentally, one of my pci devices (onboard audio) unexpectedly got disabled when I changed a video card. Details on the rpmfusion list. The audio is working again after a BIOS edit, but I'm still seeing the errors above in dmesg. The BIOS manual suggests that ACPI will override the BIOS setting. I'm confused. John P

No X after booting F25

Since upgrading to F25, I no longer get a graphical login page. I have run systemctl set-default graphical.target and runlevel5.target and default.target both point to graphical.target but I still get the non-graphical login.

network manager freezes

Hi, trying to install fedora 26 on a new laptop but freezes when it gets to the network manager. Is there a way to disable network manager when installing from a live cd? Its the xfce spin. Thanks Gary.
