Questions: When doing my windows patches and scans today, windows automatically downloaded and installed a new device driver for the new hard drive. Do I need to do that in Fedora? Did Fedora automatically do that already? How do I check?
Most likely, that would be for resolving some problem with the prior Windows driver for that device. Much less likely, it could be to deal with a problem with the hard drive itself, that someone modified the Windows driver to workaround.
I'm far more inclined to believe that it's the first reason. Different systems release patches all the time, just because one OS finds a problem with their own code doesn't mean that a different one will have the same problem. Unless, the other one made their code by copying ideas from someone else's bad code.
