Meeting times...

There has been a lack of participation at our weekly meeting the past couple of weeks. I am wondering if Thursdays at 17:00EST is still a good time for everyone, or if we would get better participation at some other time. Would another time perhaps work better for everyone? -- Justin M. Forbes

euca2ools development snapshots?

Hi folks, Since Eucalyptus upstream doesn't support block device mapping in the euca2ools 1.2 release, from what I gather it's pretty much worthless for building Fedora images. Their development builds, however, claim to support block device mapping, so would it be worth updating Fedora's packages to development versions so we can hopefully use ec2-api-tools from RPM Fusion as little as possible? (Or at least get feedback to upstream so we can start weaning ourselves off of it over time) -- Garrett Holmstrom

I installed F13 guests using virt-manager and http fedora mirror. Both installed OK, no problems found. Absolute mouse pointer worked OK on the graphical console. RHEL 5.5 has pygrub support for ext4, so having F13 guest /boot on ext4 (the default for F13) is not a problem anymore. Then we take *that* image and test it on EC2. It may well fail, since it appears that they're running a Frankenstein RHEL 5.(0-2), but at least we'll be able to isolate their failures, demonstrate that we've got our stuff working, and put pressure on them to fix if need be. <gregdek> OK, so to recap the plan: <gregdek> * huff will post the latest ks and tools he's been using to get latest image, to remind everyone of where we're at. <gregdek> * others feel free to hack at the ks and build/test new images, sending feedback to the list. <gregdek> * eventually we'll get something that boots on rhel 5.5 xen. <gregdek> * then we try to upload Teh Winnar to EC2. <gregdek> * It will probably fail, at which point we'll throw it over the wall to Amazon -- or maybe it'll work, in which case, WIN! <gregdek> Is that about right? <smooge> yes. <huff> sounds good to me --g -- Educational materials should be high-quality, collaborative, and free.
