I'm Stuart Gathman, a Fedora packager and user. Some resume things are here: http://gathman.org/vitae Now that dnf system-upgrade is the preferred way to upgrade, I wanted to share how to use LVM to do so with a better fallback (in case something goes south) than "restore from backup". I wrote a draft. I don't quite like it yet - there are too many steps. The "copy snapshot of rootfs to new lv" could be automated (but isn't yet). Hello! I do Marketing & PR at The Document Foundation, the non-profit entity behind LibreOffice. [PITCH] Animations in Blender

Hey everyone, I'd like to share my experience of making simple animations in Blender and exporting a video out of it. I'm not a 3D designer, so please don't expect making beautiful things. But I can definitely promise things that move — even though they might be a little ugly. For example, I've made this video in Blender: https://youtu.be/5VQljp1p_ok I would cover: * basics of the Blender UI * making simple shapes in Blender * keyframes — the basic concept of animation in Blender * making an actual animated scene * exporting a video I'm not sure if this would be one article or a series, I would need to start writing and see what happens. So this could be one article, or a short series. How do you like my idea? Cheers! Adam PS: If someone on the other hand knows how to make beautiful 3D models in Blender, we could do a series together maybe? May 2018 = Best month ever!

Congratulations, Magaziners... May 2018 was our best month EVER on the Magazine. Of course it was a release month with Fedora 28 releasing on May 1, 2018, and several related articles following that news. For comparison: Fedora 26 --> Jul 2017 --> 366,601 pageviews Fedora 27 --> Nov 2017 --> 389,554 pageviews Fedora 28 --> May 2018 --> 400,598 pageviews It's true this is only a modest increase, and there's a bit of unwanted "flattening out" to the curve. However, my semi-educated guess is this is due to a few problems: * The release article timing was botched due to unwanted links in the announcement text, which forced us to publish other articles waiting in the wings. In the future we should make sure to eliminate errant links like that, so we can space out views over time. * Quite a few articles in May, including the release related articles, did not use the special "" tag that incents RSS readers to come to the site to view the whole article. We need to use this tag in *every* article. With these fixes, my bet is we would have seen closer to 415K-425K pageviews, showing an accelerating release-to-release curve. However, 400,000 views in a month is nothing to sneeze at! Let's keep striving. -- Paul W.
