Hi!
I'm created new variant of logo.
Base on:
1. Simbol globe from dots.(it's « mapping »)[[BR]]
2. Three mens. (it's « people » and « meeting »)
What do you think about this concept.
Thanks!
Alexander.

Hi,
I'm working on a project quite similar to yours (but also different in some
ways). I was not aware of your project until I finished a first version. At
that moment, I was told about your project by a friend.
So, I don't known if and how our projects can help each other, but I
wanted to let you know about it. If you have any ideas about what what we can
do together, feel free to share them :)
On my side, I plan to follow shomyu development (by staying suscribed to this
list).
Now, I'll try to list some similarities and differences in our projects:
Points similar:
- webmaster/admin places items on a map, and then user can see the items.
- uses openstreetmap data
- uses openlayers
Points different:
- my project is in php: I wanted to make it easy to install on a random
hosting service.
- To present data, you use text pois. I prefer to use kml. So, one can
download that file and for example, display it in google earth.
- initial goals are quite different: mine was to use a map as a photo gallery.
- outcome number 1: on my project you can upload photos
- outcome number 2: on my project, you *must* upload photos: you cannot
place items without a photo (text only). But I'm currently working on
fixing this point, so it will be possible to place items with text only
(or even no text at all).
Here is my website:

there is a demo to play with.

Hi,
I commited a few hours ago [1] the last change for relicensing shomyu
to the GNU Affero General Public Licenve version 3 and later [2].
This closes the ticket #21 [3]. However, for being totally safe on the
legal side, ticket #20 [4] still has to be closed, which I intend to
have done before next week-end.
I chose to relicense shomyu to the AGPLv3+ as this is a license
particularly adapted for web applications. It basically is the same as
the GPLv3+, with only one difference:
- with the GPLv3, if someone modifies shomyu and then runs it on a web
server, providing a service to users over the Internet, he doesn't
have to redistribute his changes under the same license (running a web
application on a server is not considered « distribution »).
- with the AGPLv3, if someone does the same, he will *have to*
redistribute his changes under the same license (running a web
application on a server is then considered « distribution » to the
users of the software).
The goal of this is to prevent a proprietary service to use shomyu,
modify it to make it more suitable for its customers, but not
redistribute the changes to us. Hopefully, this license will lead to
better collaboration between FOSS web developers and Internet
companies.
One thing to note is that the AGPLv3+ requires to have a link to the
source code on a web application released under it. I added an icon on
the map for this purpose [5]. I tried to make it as unobtrusive as
possible. What do you think ?

Comment (by bochecha):
Thanks a lot for your proposal !
I'm not really confident with having the name of the application in the
logo. IMHO, this has two disadvantages:
* it complicates things if we ever want/need to change the name of the
application in the future
* it associates visually the application with a font
Now, to the good critics :)
I like the globe idea, and the one you drew is really nice !
Now if I may add some few things, here are a few ideas. To me, shomyu is
about two things: « mapping » and « people ». Your globe perfectly covers
the former, but a globe alone might be a little too « simple » or classic
(it is already used for the Epiphany logo for example).
As an example of the « people » concept, I really like the

smolt banner].
Now, those were simply ideas that crossed my mind lately, and I have
absolutely no idea if those are valid or not (I have less than zero
graphical skills), and I don't want to influence or limit you in your
creativity, you're the expert :)

Hi,
I just received a notification by email that the following ticket had
been opened in the Fedora Design Team tracker:
https://fedorahosted.org/design-team/ticket/8
\o/
Mairin told me she hasn't got a lot of time at the moment, so that
might wait for a month. That's no problem as 0.7 is needed before we
can start working on a better UI for 0.8 :)
Anyway, this is just great news and I can't wait to see it happen.
