#56: Proposed Test Day - Printing ----------------------+----------------------------------------------------- Reporter: twaugh | Owner: Type: task | Status: new Priority: major | Milestone: Fedora 13 Component: Test Day | Version: Keywords: | ----------------------+----------------------------------------------------- Hi,
I'd like a test day on printing generally, and [https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/AutomaticPrintDriverInstallation automatic printer driver installation] specifically.
My preferred date is 2010-03-04. Failing that, 2010-03-09 will do too.

Sounds great. Aside from automatic printer driver installation, any specific test cases we should hit? Off the top of my head I'd have adding a printer that's properly handled in s-c-p, manually adding a printer that s-c-p doesn't know about properly, removing a printer, printing documents from a few common sources...what else?

Might be nice to revisit and/or refresh the fit'n'finish printing test cases at https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Category:Printing_Test_Cases

Job handling could probably do with some testing as well, i.e. using the document print status window to hold, resume, cancel and reprint jobs.
For the automatic print driver installation the two main types of printer are: those where the device ID is recognised as being drivable by some package we can install; and the others.
Some of the device IDs the packages will claim support for will be incorrect (notably in HPLIP), and really the only way to fix that is to crowdsource correct data.

What do I need to do to secure a test day slot? They are running out fast.

well, first you take your rubber chicken and your bucket of blood...=)
no, just pick one of the open slots and put your topic into it. nothing more than that required.
