Games Spin update

I think ks file is in its final form pending new problems. My experiment in removing evolution and ligweather failed. They have too much desktop stuff dependent on them to pull out. I made a couple of corrections for packages that had been obsoleted. poker2d-kde was obsoleted by poker2d which was already in the spin. ksirk was obsoleted by kdegames which was not included, but was getting pulled in. I did not really want all of kdegames, so ksirk has been dropped. I also dropped bsd-games which pulled in a bunch of text based games, which really isn't the focus of the spin. Rogue and nethack (probably the best text based games) are still in and can be started from the games menu. I have a reasonable Games Spin page now and have moved it to Spin Ready For Wrangler, to get it looked at before going before the Spins SIG. Current breathing room is 90 MB for i686 and 80 MB for x86_64.

Games spin status

The spin will definitately be limited to 4 GiB. I am testing removing Wine in order to keep the x86_64 spin about the same size. (Wine pulls in a bunch of 386 libs.) I was also planning on removing wget since being based on the desktop kickstart I'll just take whatever it pulls in. I was going to drop dosbox as we are trying to show off Fedora's games, not being able to run emulators for mostly propietary stuff. I need to keep an eye on space still as the spin is very close to the size limit and changes in packages could end up putting the spin over. I haven't finished get the newer spin page done yet. The general stuff is there, but I need to include a game list which will be a bit of typing. I want to get this done this week so that the spin wrangler will have plenty of time to review before the next Spin SIG meeting. I still could use a maintainer to take a look at nethack and see if it's font setup just needs the Requires(post) and add it if it does. I haven't gotten any feedback from the Alpha Spin. I have noticed some people grabbing a copy as I have been trying to help seed. So I think a few people are using it.

Games Spin Alpha

An i686 Games Spin was produced as part of the alpha release. (x86_64 ended up being too large.) You can help test this by getting a torrent from: http://spins.fedoraproject.org/torrents//Fedora-11-Alpha-i686-Live-Games.to… Please copy bruno(a)wolff.to on any bugs you file. Thanks!
