Our attendees came from across North America (obviously, with a concentration on the GTA). This year's event is scheduled for Thu Oct 23 and Fri Oct 24. OnLinux (modelled after the Ohio Linux Fest) is 1 year old, and last year had ~25 talks and lots of booths, scheduled over one weekend day. I don't remember how many attendees they said they had. This year's event is scheduled for Sat Oct 25. OnLinux popped up on our radar a few weeks before their event (which was one week before ours). We introduced ourselves in advance and cross-linked our websites, and afterwards had a teleconference to sort out what we should be doing. We're constrained schedule-wise by facilities (we use the Seneca@York campus during reading week), and they have different scheduling issues. After some discussion, we decided that we're probably attracting different audiences -- FSOSS is more likely to reach those using OS in their work, as well as students. OnLinux is more accessible to those who are involved with Linux on a personal-interest level, LUGs, and so forth. OnLinux found that the best date for this year was immediately after FSOSS, and we don't really think that's a conflict. In fact, it may work for some out-of-town speakers to present at both events. And with 5 million people in the area, there are plenty of attendees to go around. -Chris (Greg: this might not post to f-a-l, please forward if appropriate)

IMHO 128 € is way to much especially for those of us who are not from the wealthy countries of Europe. I think once again the European Ambassadors/Founding members of EMEA did not take the situation of all ambassadors into account. Remember, the letters "ME" in EMEA mean "Middle East" and "A" is for Africa. Has anybody really thought about the people there? Could someone also please point out what the difference between the different membership grades is (full membership, family membership and so on)? According to the declaration of accession to Fedora EMEA the cost-reduced membership requires "a confirmation accepted in the Federal Republic of Germany." What does that mean? Next question: What do I get for my membership? If I read Jörg Simons mail of March 24th 2008 correctly, members are getting a "one-off and exclusive" welcome present, whatever this means. Must be a hell of a present though... ;) Also EMEA members are allowed to vote what to do the raised money. Of course understand this but I'm afraid we are going to divide the ambassadors program into first and second class ambassadors: Those who (can afford to) pay and therefore have more rights and those who don't. Where is Sinhala support?

Hi All, I was wondering, how come Sinhala Support removed from the Fedora 9 LiveCD. [1] There is no Sinhala interface for the Fedora 9 installation (tested on X86_64), installed Sinhala support dring the post installation. But Fedora 8 was really good for the Sinhala support. Not only that till Fedora 8, it was the only distro, which gave default support for the Sinhala and it was appreciated by government people as well. New ambassador in Chihuaua MEXICO

Hello ambassador folks I've recently joined the project and I've just been confirmed. I don't expect everyone to reply this communication but I just wanted to let you guys know that I'm around and willing to work hard for the project in my community. Since I'm new in this project, I have a lot of questions and I may bother you later with some of them. For those of you wondering "Where's Chihuahua and does that really exist?" (lol) , it is the biggest State in Mexico located in the North part of the country and it is part of the border with the US. I'm catching up with the meeting minutes and generally with all the documentation but please let me know if there are things I should know in order to start the quickest possible, as for instance the date and time for the next meeting will be a good thing to be warned of. FC9: Input Signal Out of Range

Hi all, I'm getting this for some reason when it's trying to load.. I just did an update from FC8... does anybody have similar problem? FC8 had a little problem with the widescreen monitor, but didn't give me this thing. It's not an error message from the OS but it seems that my monitor is not working well with FC9..? I could do CTRL + ALT + F1 to get into the console though... Is this because of the new KDE..? Thanks, Grady
