Hello everyone,
FOSDEM, the biggest free and non-commercial event organized by and for the community in Europe, is just 2 months away. Our request for a booth hasn't been officially approved yet, however, we can safely start preparing for FOSDEM 2018!
Like every year, we will have a booth and we need at least 6 people to stay at the booth and do "booth duty" throughout the day. Contributors that will either represent Fedora at the booth, or organize a Fedora-related talk, may get sponsored. This year sponsored contributors are also expected to assist in the distributions devroom (help Intro speakers, keep time, check equipment etc) some hours during the two days of the conference. Sponsored contributors are expected to stay X hours at the booth and in the devroom (more on that later). If you would like to request funding, add your name in the wiki and open a funding request, so we can discuss all the requests in the upcoming meetings.
Are you coming to FOSDEM this year? Add your name to the list, so that we know what Fedorians will be there: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FOSDEM_2018
Cheers, Zach

Hey Zach, I am Sumantro , Fedora Ambassdor from India and I would love to accept the proposal as a volunteer for Fedora booth at FOSDEM 2018. I would although require funding (travel and stay) and I would like to know if that's possible at all. Thanks //sumantrom

Hi Sumantro,
I don't see why it shouldn't be possible. However, our budget is limited, and because you are in India flights are way more expensive compared to flights from other European cities. Either way, just follow the procedure I mentioned (wiki entry + funding request ticket in EMEA requests instance [1] explaining how will you contribute to the booth) and we will discuss all tickets in the upcoming meetings. Your request has higher chances to be approved if you could cover some of the flights yourself.
Have a nice weekend, Zach

Rather than Han suggest he self-pay, perhaps we could evaluate the need for another person at FOSDEM. based on that EMEA, APAC, and the Council should work together on funding. Fedora has budget so we should artificially restrict our activities. There may also be secondary activities that make funding Sumantro make sense for the project overall. Regards,
bex

Hi all,
I hope that I'll be helping out as well. I've submitted a talk, and for the rest of the duration of the event I'll be available to help out at the Dev room, or the Booth. I can also help bring some stuff from Brno.
I was also thinking about a demo running at the booth, any ideas about the interest in C# / netcore at FOSDEM? I know that it was quite big at BuildStuff...
Regards, Radka
